We
have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If
your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith;
if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to
encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give
generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy,
do it cheerfully.
If it is teaching, then teach
Acts 13:1 Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul.
Romans 2:21 ... you, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal?
1 Timothy 1:3-4 As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain people not to teach false doctrines any longer or to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. Such things promote controversial speculations rather than advancing God's work--which is by faith.
James 3:1 Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.
if it is to encourage, then give encouragement
Acts 11:23 When he [Barnabas] arrived and saw what the grace of God had done, he was glad and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts.
Acts 15:32 Judas and Silas, who themselves were prophets, said much to encourage and strengthen the believers.
2 Corinthians 7:13 By all this we are encouraged. In addition to our own encouragement, we were especially delighted to see how happy Titus was, because his spirit has been refreshed by all of you.
Philemon 7 Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord's people.
if it is giving, then give generously
2 Corinthians 8:2 In the midst of a very severe trial, their [the Macedonian church] overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity.
2 Corinthians 9:7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
