Romans 12:14-16 Part 2 of 2

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

Luke 19:41-42  As he (Jesus) approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, "If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace--but now it is hidden from your eyes."

Romans 12:14-16 Part 1 of 2

Acts 24:17  "After an absence of several years, I came to Jerusalem to bring my people gifts for the poor and to present offerings."
Acts 11:29-30  The disciples, as each one was able, decided to provide help for the brothers and sisters living in Judea. This they did, sending their gift to the elders by Barnabas and Saul.
Romans 15:26  For Macedonia and Achaia were pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the Lord's people in Jerusalem.
Galatians 2:10  All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I had been eager to do all along.

Practice hospitality 
2 Kings 4:10  "Let's make a small room on the roof and put in it a bed and a table and a chair and a lamp for him (Elisha). Then he can stay here whenever he comes to us."
Job 31:32  "... but no stranger had to spend the night in the street, for my door was always open to the traveler--..."
1 Timothy 3:2  Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, ...
1 Timothy 5:9-10  No widow may be put on the list of widows unless she is over sixty, has been faithful to her husband, and is well known for her good deeds, such as bringing up children, showing hospitality, washing the feet of the Lord's people, helping those in trouble and devoting herself to all kinds of good deeds. 
Hebrews 13:2  Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.
1 Peter 4:9  Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.

Be joyful in hope 
Romans 5:2b  And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 
Hebrews 3:6  But Christ is faithful as the Son over God's house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.
Hebrews 6:11  We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized.
Hebrews 6:18-19a  God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.
Hebrews 7:18-19  The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.
Hebrews 11:1  Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Hebrews 10:32  Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering.
Hebrews 10:36  You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

Romans 12:9-11 Part 2 of 2

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

Be devoted to one another in love 
Psalm 133:1  How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity!
1 Thessalonians 4:9  Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other.
Hebrews 13:1  Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters.
1 Peter 1:22  Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.

Honor one another above yourselves 
Philippians 2:3-4  Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord 
Acts 18:25  He (Apollos) had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and he spoke with great fervor and taught about Jesus accurately, though he knew only the baptism of John.

Romans 12:9-11 Part 1 of 2

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
 
Love must be sincere 
2 Corinthians 6:4, 6  Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses; ... in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; ...
1 Timothy 1:5  The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.
 
Hate what is evil; cling to what is good 
Psalm 97:10   Let those who love the LORD hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
Amos 5:15  Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts. Perhaps the LORD God Almighty will have mercy on the remnant of Joseph.
1 Thessalonians 5:20-22  Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil.

Romans 12:6-8 Part 2 of 2

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
 
If it is teaching, then teach 
Acts 13:1  Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul.
Romans 2:21  ... you, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal?
1 Timothy 1:3-4  As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain people not to teach false doctrines any longer or to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. Such things promote controversial speculations rather than advancing God's work--which is by faith.
James 3:1  Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.

if it is to encourage, then give encouragement 
Acts 11:23  When he [Barnabas] arrived and saw what the grace of God had done, he was glad and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts.
Acts 15:32  Judas and Silas, who themselves were prophets, said much to encourage and strengthen the believers.
2 Corinthians 7:13  By all this we are encouraged. In addition to our own encouragement, we were especially delighted to see how happy Titus was, because his spirit has been refreshed by all of you. 
Philemon 7  Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord's people.

Romans 12:6-8 Part 1 of 2

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
 
We have different gifts
1 Corinthians 7:7  I wish that all of you were as I am. But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.
1 Corinthians 12:4  There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them.
1 Corinthians 12:8-10  To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and still to another the interpretation of tongues.

If your gift is prophesying 
Ephesians 4:11  So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, ...
1 Corinthians 13:2  If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
1 Corinthians 13:8  Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
1 Corinthians 14:1  Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.
1 Corinthians 14:39  Therefore, my brothers and sisters, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues.
2 Peter 3:2  I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles.

Ephesians 4:16  From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Romans 12:2

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Ephesians 5:8-10  For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord.

Romans 12:1

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God--this is your true and proper worship.

Romans 6:16  Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey--whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience which leads to righteousness?
Romans 6:19  I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness.

Romans 11:35-36 Part 1 of 2

"Who  has ever given to God, that God should repay them?" For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.

Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them? 
Job 41:11  "Who has a claim against me that I must repay? Everything under heaven belongs to me."
Job 35:7  "If you are righteous, what do you give to him, or what does he receive from your hand?"

For from him and through him and for him are all things

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments and his paths beyond tracing out! "Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?"

Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor? 
Isaiah 40:13-14  Who can fathom the Spirit of the LORD, or instruct the LORD as his counselor? Whom did the LORD consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way? Who was it that taught him knowledge, or showed him the path of understanding?
Job 15:8  "Do you listen in on God's council? Do you have a monopoly on wisdom?"
Job 36:22  "God is exalted in his power. Who is a teacher like him?"
Jeremiah 23:18  "But which of them (the prophets) has stood in the council of the LORD to see or to hear his word? Who has listened and heard his word?"
1 Corinthians 2:14-16  The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, for, "Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him? (Isaiah 40:13) But we have the mind of Christ.

Psalm 92:5  How great are your works, LORD, how profound your thoughts!
Ephesians 3:10-11  His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to his eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.

How unsearchable his judgments and his paths beyond tracing out 
Job 5:9  "He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted."
Job 11:7  "Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty?"
Psalm 139:6  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
Ecclesiastes 8:16-17  When I applied my mind to know wisdom and to observe the labor that is done on earth--people getting no sleep day or night--then I saw all that God has done. No one can comprehend what goes on under the sun. Despite all their efforts to search it out, no one can discover its meaning. Even if the wise claim they know, they cannot really comprehend it.
Isaiah 40:28  Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments and his paths beyond tracing out! "Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?"
 
Oh, the depth of the riches 
Romans 2:4  Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?
Romans 9:22-24  What if God, although choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath--prepared for destruction? What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory--even us, whom he also called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles?
Ephesians 1:7-8a  I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.
Ephesians 2:6-7  And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
Colossians 2:2-3  My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Romans 11:28-32 Part 2 of 2

As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, for God's gifts and his call are irrevocable. Just as you who were at one time disobedient to God have now received mercy as a result of their disobedience, so they too have now become disobedient in order that they too may now receive mercy as a result of God's mercy to you. For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.

Hebrews 7:21  ... but he became a priest with an oath when God said to him: "The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind: 'You are a priest forever.' " (Psalm 110:4) 
Numbers 23:19  "God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

Romans 11:28-32 Part 1 of 2

Romans 5:10  For if, while we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!
Colossians 1:21  Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior.

Romans 11:25-27 Part 3 of 3

I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, and in this way all Israel will be saved. As it is written: "The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob. And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins." 

and in this way all Israel will be saved 
Isaiah 45:17  But Israel will be saved by the LORD with an everlasting salvation; you will never be put to shame or disgraced, to ages everlasting.
Jeremiah 31:34  "No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, 'Know the LORD,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest," declares the LORD. "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."

And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins

Romans 11:7  What then? What the people of Israel sought so earnestly they did not obtain. The elect among them did, but the others were hardened, ...
Romans 9:18  Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.

until the full number of the Gentiles has come in 
Luke 21:24  "They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled."

Romans 11:25-27 Part 1 of 3

Romans 1:13  I do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, that I planned many times to come to you (but have been prevented from doing so until now) in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles.
1 Corinthians 10:1  For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers and sisters, that our ancestors were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. 
1 Corinthians 12:1  Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. 
2 Corinthians 1:8  We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself.
1 Thessalonians 4:13  Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.

Romans 16:25-27  Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from faith--to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen. 
Ephesians 1:9-10  ... he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment--to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.
Colossians 1:27  To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Romans 11:22-24

Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off. And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. After all, if you were cut out of an olive tree that is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree!

Psalm 1:3  That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither--whatever they do prospers.
Hosea 14:6  ... His (Israel's) splendor will be like an olive tree, his fragrance like a cedar of Lebanon.
