You have made us a reproach to our neighbors, the scorn and derision of those around us. You have made us a byword among the nations; the peoples shake their heads at us.

Deuteronomy 28:37 You will become a thing of horror, a byword and an object of ridicule among all the peoples where the LORD will drive you.
Micah 2:6 "Do not prophesy," their prophets say. "Do not prophesy about these things; disgrace will not overtake us."
and derision of those around us
Ezekiel 23:32
"This is what the Sovereign LORD says: You will drink your sister's
cup, a cup large and deep; it will bring scorn and derision, for it
holds so much."

1 Kings 9:6-7
"But if you or your descendants turn away from me and do not observe
the commands and decrees I have given you and go off to serve other gods
and worship them, then I will cut off Israel from the land I have given
them and will reject this temple I have consecrated for my Name. Israel
will become a byword, and an object of ridicule among all peoples."
2 Kings 19:20-22
Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to Hezekiah: "This is what the
LORD, the God of Israel, says: I have heard your prayer concerning
Sennacherib king of Assyria. This is the word that the LORD has spoken
against him: 'Virgin Daughter Zion despises you and mocks you. Daughter
Jerusalem tosses her head as you flee. Who is it you have ridiculed and
blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted your eyes
in pride? Against the Holy One of Israel!' "
