Psalm 35:13-14

Yet when they were ill, I put on sackcloth and humbled myself with fasting. When my prayers returned to me unanswered, I went about mourning as though for my friend or brother. I bowed my head in grief as though weeping for my mother. 

Yet when they were ill, I put on sackcloth 
2 Samuel 3:31  Then David said to Joab and all the people with him, "Tear your clothes and put on sackcloth and walk in mourning in front of Abner." King David himself walked behind the bier.
1 Kings 20:31  His officials said to him, "Look, we have heard that the kings of Israel are merciful. Let us go to the king of Israel with sackcloth around our waists and ropes around our heads. Perhaps he will spare your life." (Ben-Hadad king of Aram)
Psalm 30:11-12  You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. LORD, my God, I will praise you forever.
Psalm 69:10-11  When I weep and fast, I must endure scorn; when I put on sackcloth, people make sport of me.

and humbled myself with fasting 
Job 30:25  "Have I not wept for those in trouble? Has not my soul grieved for the poor?"
Psalm 109:24  My knees give way from fasting; my body is thin and gaunt.

When my prayers returned to me unanswered, I went about mourning 
Psalm 38:6  I am bowed down and brought very low; all day long I go about mourning.
Psalm 42:9  I say to God my Rock, "Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?"
Psalm 43:2  You are God my stronghold. Why have you rejected me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?
