TRUTH 1 Corinthians 5:8

Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old bread leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

TRUTH Romans 15:8-9

For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God's truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed and, moreover, that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written: "Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles; I will sing the praises of your name." (2 Samuel 22:50)

TRUTH Romans 2:17-24 Part 2 of 2

Now you, if you call yourself a Jew; if you rely on the law and boast in God; if you know his will and approve of what is superior because you are instructed by the law; if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light for those who are in the dark, an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of little children, because you have in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth--you, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal? You who say that people should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law? As it is written: "God's name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you." (Isaiah 52:5; Ezekiel 36:20, 22)

 You who preach against stealing, do you steal? 
Matthew 23:2-4  "The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them."

You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? 
Acts 19:37  "You have brought these men here, though they have neither robbed temples nor blasphemed our goddess."

God's name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you 
Isaiah 52:5  "And now what do I have here?" declares the LORD. "For my people have been taken away for nothing, and those who rule them mock," declares the LORD. "And all day long my name is constantly blasphemed."
Ezekiel 36:22  "Therefore say to the Israelites, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: It is not for your sake, people of Israel, that I am going to do these things, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you have gone.' "
2 Peter 2:2  Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.

TRUTH Romans 2:6-8 Part 2 of 2

God "will repay each person according to what they have done." (Psalm 62:12; Proverbs 24:12) To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.

2 Thessalonians 2:9-12  The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

Ezekiel 22:30-31  "I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one. So I will pour out my wrath on them and consume them with my fiery anger, bringing down on their own heads all they have done, declares the Sovereign LORD."

TRUTH Romans 2:6-8 Part 1 of 2

Psalm 62:12  "You reward everyone according to what they have done."
Matthew 16:27  "For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done."

To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor 
Romans 2:10  ... but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first to the Jew, then for the Gentile.

and immortality 
1 Corinthians 15:53-54  For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." (Isaiah 25:8)
2 Timothy 1:9-10  He has saved us and called us to a holy life--not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

TRUTH Romans 2:2-4 Part 3 of 3

Now we know that God's judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment? Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness is intended to lead you to repentance? 

of his kindness 
Romans 11:22  Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off.

forbearance 
Romans 3:25-26  God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood--to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished--he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

and patience 
Exodus 34:6-7  And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation."
Romans 9:22  What if God, although choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath--prepared for destruction?
1 Timothy 1:16  But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.
1 Peter 3:19-20a  After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits--to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built.
2 Peter 3:15  Bear in mind that our Lord's patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom God gave him.

not realizing that God's kindness is intended to lead you to repentance 
2 Peter 3:9  The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Ephesians 3:8-9  Although I am less than the least of all the Lord's people, this grace was given to me: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ, and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.
Ephesians 3:16-17a  I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.
Colossians 2:2-3  My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Romans 9:22-24  What if God, although choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath--prepared for destruction? What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory--even us, whom he also called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles?
Romans 11:33  Oh, the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!
Ephesians 1:7-10  In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment--to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

TRUTH Romans 1:24-25

Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen.

rather than the Creator--who is forever praised 
Romans 9:5  Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.
2 Corinthians 11:31  The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, who is to be praised forever, knows that I am not lying.

TRUTH Romans 1:18-20 Part 2 of 2

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

TRUTH Romans 1:18-20 Part 1 of 2

John 3:36  Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on them.
Romans 5:9  Since we now have been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!
Ephesians 6:5  Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient.
Colossians 3:5-6  Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.

TRUTH Acts 28:25-28

They disagreed among themselves and began to leave after Paul made this final statement: "The Holy Spirit spoke the truth to your ancestors when he said through Isaiah the prophet: 'Go to this people and say, "You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving. For this people's heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.' (Isaiah 6:9-10) Therefore I want you to know that God's salvation has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will listen!" 

The Holy Spirit spoke the truth to your ancestors when he said 
Hebrews 3:7-11  So, as the Holy Spirit says, "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness, where your ancestors tested and tried me, though for forty years they saw what I did. That is why I was angry with that generation; I said, 'Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known my ways.' So I declared on oath in my anger, 'They shall never enter my rest.' TRUTH Acts 21:33-34 Part 2 of 2

The commander came up and arrested him and ordered him to be bound with two chains. Then he asked who he was and what he had done. Some in the crowd shouted one thing and some another, and since the commander could not get at the truth because of the uproar, he ordered that Paul be taken into the barracks.

Acts 21:37-38  As the soldiers were about to take Paul into the barracks, he asked the commander, "May I say something to you?"  "Do you speak Greek?" he replied. "Aren't you the Egyptian who started a revolt and led four thousand terrorists out into the wilderness some time ago?"
Acts 22:23-24  As they were shouting and throwing off their cloaks and flinging dust into the air, the commander ordered that Paul be taken into the barracks. He directed that he be flogged and interrogated in order to find out why the people were shouting at him like this. 
Acts 23:10  The dispute became so violent that the commander was afraid Paul would be torn to pieces by them. He ordered the troops to go down and take him away from them by force and bring him into the barracks.
Acts 23:16  But when the son of Paul's sister heard of this plot, he went into the barracks and told Paul.
Acts 23:31-33  So the soldiers, carrying out their orders, took Paul with them during the night and brought him as far as Antipatris. The next day they let the cavalry go on with him, while they returned to the barracks. When the cavalry arrived in Caesarea, they delivered the letter to the governor and handed Paul over to him.

TRUTH Acts 21:33-34 Part 1 of 2

The commander came up and arrested him and ordered him to be bound with two chains. Then he asked who he was and what he had done. Some in the crowd shouted one thing and some another, and since the commander could not get at the truth because of the uproar, he ordered that Paul be taken into the barracks.

Acts 21:10-11  After we had been there a number of days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. Coming over to us, he took Paul's belt, tied his own hands and feet with it and said, "The Holy Spirit says, 'In this way the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem will bind the owner of this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.' "
Acts 12:6-7  The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. "Quick, get up!" he said, and the chains fell off Peter's wrists.
Acts 20:23  "I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me."
Acts 22:29  Those who were about to interrogate him withdrew immediately. The commander himself was alarmed when he realized that he had put Paul, a Roman citizen, in chains.
Ephesians 6:19-20  Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
2 Timothy 2:8-9  Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God's word is not chained.

TRUTH Acts 20: 29-31

"I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears." 

I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you 
Ezekiel 34:5  " 'So they were scattered because there was no shepherd, and when they were scattered they became food for all the wild animals.' "
Matthew 7:15  "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves."

and will not spare the flock 
Acts 20:28  "Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood."

Acts 11:25-26  Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.

Remember that for three years 
Acts 19:10  This went on for two years, so that all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord.

I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears 
Acts 20:19  I served the Lord with great humility and with tears and in the midst of severe testing by the plots of my Jewish opponents.

TRUTH John 19:35-37

The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe. These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: "Not one of his bones will be broken." [Exodus 12:46; Numbers 19:12; Psalm 34:20] and, as another scripture says, "They will look on the one they have pierced." [Zechariah 12:10]

The man who saw it has given testimony 
Luke 24:48  "You are witnesses of these things."

and his testimony is true 
John 15:27  "An you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning."
John 21:24  This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.

These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled 
John 19:24  "Let's not tear it," they said to one another. "Let's decide by lot who will get it." This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled that said, "They divided my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment." [Psalm 22:18] So this is what the soldiers did.
John 19:28  Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, "I am thirsty." [Psalm 69:21; Psalm 22:15]
Matthew 1:22-23  All this took place to fulfill what the Lord has said through the prophet: "The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" [Isaiah 7:14] (which means "God with us").

Not one of his bones will be broken 
Exodus 12:46  "It must be eaten inside the house; take none of the meat outside the house. Do not break any of the bones."
Numbers 9:12  "They must not leave any of it till morning or break any of its bones. When they celebrate the Passover, they must follow all the regulations."
Palm 34:20  ... he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken.

They will look on the one they have pierced 
Zechariah 12:10  "And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son."
Revelation 1:7  "Look, he is coming with the clouds," [Daniel 7:13] and "every eye will see him, even those who pierced him" [Zechariah 12:10]; and all peoples on earth "will mourn because of him." [Zechariah 12:10] So shall it be! Amen.

TRUTH John 18:37-38

"You are a king, then!" said Pilate. Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."  "What is truth?" retorted Pilate. With this he went out again to the Jews gathered there and said, "I find no basis for a charge against him." 

the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth 
John 3:31-36  The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all. He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. Whoever has accepted it has certified that God is truthful. For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit. The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on them.

Everyone on the side of truth listens to me 
John 8:47  "Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God."
1 John 4:6  We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.

I find no basis for a charge against him

TRUTH John 18:22-23

When Jesus said this, one of the officials nearby slapped him in the face. "Is this the way you answer the high priest?" he demanded.  "If I said something wrong," Jesus replied, "testify to what is wrong. But if I spoke the truth, why did you strike me?"

John 18:3  So Judas came into the garden, guiding a detachment of soldiers and officials from the chief priests and the Pharisees. They were carrying torches, lanterns and weapons.

slapped him in the face 
Matthew 16:21  From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.

Acts 23:2-5  At this the high priest Ananias ordered those standing near Paul to strike him on the mouth. Then Paul said to him, "God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! You sit there to judge me according to the law, yet you yourself violate the law by commanding that I be struck!"

TRUTH John 16:13-15

"But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you."

But when he, the spirit of truth, comes

TRUTH John 15:26

"When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father--the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father--he will testify about me."

When the Advocate comes 
John 14:16-17a  "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever--the Spirit of truth."

whom I will send to you from the Father 
John 14:26  "But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."
John 16:7  "But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you."

the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father 
John 14:17  "...the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you."

he will testify about me 
1 John 5:6-12  This is the one who came by water (baptism) and blood (death). He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. We accept human testimony, but God's testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. Whoever believes in the son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

TRUTH John 14:16-17

I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate

TRUTH John 9:24-25

TRUTH John 8:43-47

"Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe me? Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God." 

You belong to your father the devil 
1 John 3:8  The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning since the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work.

and you want to carry out your father's desires 
John 8:38  " I am telling you what I have seen in the Father's presence, and you are doing what you have heard from your father."

When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies

TRUTH John 8:39-42 Part 2 of 2

"Abraham is our father," they answered. "If you were Abraham's children," said Jesus, "then you would do what Abraham did. As it is you are looking for a way to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things. You are doing the works of your own father."  "We are not illegitimate children," they protested. " The only Father we have is God himself." Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me."  

The only father we have is God himself 
Isaiah 63:16  But you are our Father, though Abraham does not know us or Israel acknowledge us; you, LORD, are our Father, our Redeemer from of old is your name.
Isaiah 64:8  Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.

If God were your Father, you would love me 
1 John 5:1  Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well.

for I have come here from God 
John 13:3  Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God, and was returning to God; ...

I have not come on my own 
John 7:28-29  Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple courts, cried out, "Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from. I am not here on my own authority, but he who sent me is true. You do not know him, but I know him, because I am from him and he sent me."

God sent me 
John 3:17  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

TRUTH John 8:39-42 Part 1 of 2

"Abraham is our father," they answered. "If you were Abraham's children," said Jesus, "then you would do what Abraham did. As it is you are looking for a way to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things. You are doing the works of your own father."  "We are not illegitimate children," they protested. " The only Father we have is God himself." Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me." 

If you were Abraham's children 
John 8:37  "I know that you are Abraham's descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me, because you have no room for my word."
Luke 3:8  "Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham."

As it is you are looking for a way to kill me 
Matthew 12:14  But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus.

a man that has told you the truth that I heard from God 
John 8:26  "I have much to say in judgment of you. But he who sent me is trustworthy, and what I have heard from him I tell the world."

You are doing the works of your own father 
John 8:38  "I'm telling you what I have seen in the Father's presence, and you are doing what you have heard from your father."
