TRUTH John 8:31-32

To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples
John 15:7  "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples."
2 John 9  Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free
John 8:36  "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."
Romans 8:1-2  Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.
2 Corinthians 3:17  Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
Galatians 5:1  It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Galatians 5:13  You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.

TRUTH John 7:18

"Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him."

John 5:41-44  "I do not accept glory from human beings, but I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts. I have come in my Father's name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. How can you believe since you accept glory from one another but do not seek the glory that comes from the only God!"
John 8:50  "I am not seeking glory for myself; but there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge."
John 8:54  Jesus replied, "If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me."

TRUTH John 5:33-35 Part 2 of 2

"You have sent to John and he has testified to the truth. Not that I accept human testimony; but I mention it that you may be saved. John was a lamp that burned and gave light, and you chose for a time to enjoy his light."

but I mention it that you may be saved
Acts 16:30  He then brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved--you and your household."
Ephesians 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast.
Titus 3:4-7  But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.

John was a lamp that burned and gave light
Daniel 12:3  "Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.
2 Peter 1:19  We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

TRUTH John 5:33-35 Part 1 of 2

"You have sent to John and he has testified to the truth. Not that I accept human testimony; but I mention it that you may be saved. John was a lamp that burned and gave light, and you chose for a time to enjoy his light."

You have sent to John and he has testified to the truth
John 1:6-8  There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.

Not that I accept human testimony
1 John 5:9-12  We accept human testimony, but God's testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. and this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the son of God does not have life.

TRUTH John 4:21-24 Part 3 of 3

"Woman," Jesus replied, "believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth."

Yet the time is coming and has now come
John 5:25  "Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live."
John 16:32  "A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me."

when true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth
Philippians 3:3  For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh--...
Romans 2:28-29  A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person's praise is not from other people, but from God.
Colossians 2:11-12  In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self ruled by the flesh was put off when you were circumcised by Christ, having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.

TRUTH John 4:21-24 Part 2 of 3

"Woman," Jesus replied, "believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth."

You Samaritans worship what you do not know
2 Kings 17:28-29  So one of the priests who had been exiled from Samaria came to live in Bethel and taught them how to worship the LORD. Nevertheless, each national group made its own gods in the several towns where they settled, and set them up in the shrines the people of Samaria had made at the high places. (read the whole passage, verses 28-41)

we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews
Isaiah 2:3  Many peoples will come and say, "Come let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the temple of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths." The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
Romans 3:1-2  What advantage, then, is there in being a Jew, or what value is there in circumcision? Much in every way! First of all, the Jews have been entrusted with the very words of God.
Romans 9:3-5  For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my people, those of my own race, the people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption to sonship; theirs is the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises. Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.
Romans 15:8-9  For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God's truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed and, moreover, that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written: "Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles; I will sing the praises of your name." (2 Samuel 22:50; Psalm 18:49)

"Woman," Jesus replied, "believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth."

"Woman," Jesus replied, "believe me a time is coming"
John 5:28-29  "Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out--those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned."
John 16:2  "They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God."

when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem
Malachi 1:11  "My name will be great among the nations, from where the sun rises to where it sets. In every place incense and pure offerings will be brought to me, because my name will be great among the nations." says the LORD Almighty.
1 Timothy 2:8-10  Therefore I want men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing. I also want the women to dress modestly with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.

TRUTH John 3:19-21

This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

This is the verdict: Light has come into the world
John 1:4-5  In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil
Psalm 52:3  You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth.
John 7:7  "The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify that its works are evil."

Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed
Ephesians 5:8-13  For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible--and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.

TRUTH John 1:17

For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

For the law was given through Moses
Deuteronomy 32:45-47  When Moses finished reciting all these words to all Israel, he said to them, "Take to heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day, so that you may command your children to obey carefully all the words of this law. They are not just idle words for you--they are your life. By them you will live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess."
John 7:19  "Has not Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you keeps the law. Why are you trying to kill me?"

grace and truth came through Jesus Christ
John 1:14  The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 14:6  Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

TRUTH John 1:14 Part 2 of 2

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father
Exodus 33:18  Then Moses said, "Now show me your glory."
Exodus 40:34  Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
2 Peter 16-18  For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eye witnesses of his majesty. He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.
John 2:11  What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.

full of grace
Romans 3:24  ... and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
Jonah 4:2  He prayed to the LORD, "Isn't this what I said, LORD, when I was still at home? This is what I tried to forestall by fleeing to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity."
Romans 1:7  To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be his holy people: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

and truth
John 14:6  Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

TRUTH John 1:14 Part 1 of 2

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us
Galatians 4:4-5  But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.
Philippians 2:6-8  Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death--even death on a cross!
1 Timothy 3:16  Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up into glory.
Hebrews 2:14-15  Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death--that is, the devil--and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.
1 John 1:1-2  That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched--this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.
1 John 4:2-3  This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

TRUTH Zechariah 8:19 Part 2 of 2

This is what the LORD Almighty says: "The fasts of the fourth, fifth, seventh and tenth months will become joyful and glad occasions and happy festivals for Judah. Therefore love truth and peace."

and the tenth months (mourned the beginning of Nebuchadnezzar's siege of Jerusalem)
2 Kings 25:1  So in the ninth year of Zedekiah's reign, on the tenth day of the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon marched against Jerusalem with his whole army. He encamped outside the city and built siege works all around it.
Jeremiah 39:1  In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon marched against Jerusalem with his whole army and laid siege to it.
Jeremiah 52:4  So in the ninth year of Zedekiah's reign, on the tenth day of the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon marched against Jerusalem with his whole army. They encamped outside the city and built siege works all around it.
Ezekiel 24:1-2  In the ninth year, in the tenth month on the tenth day, the word of the LORD came to me: "Son of man, record this date, this very date, because the king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this very day."

will become joyful and glad occasions and happy festivals for Judah
Psalm 30:11  You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy.
Isaiah 65:18-19  "But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy. I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people; the sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more."

Therefore love truth and peace.
Zechariah 8:16  "These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth to each other, and render true and sound judgment in your courts; do not plot evil against each other, and do not love to swear falsely. I hate all this," declares the LORD.

TRUTH Zechariah 8:19 Part 1 of 2

This is what the LORD Almighty says: "The fasts of the fourth, fifth, seventh and tenth months will become joyful and glad occasions and happy festivals for Judah. Therefore love truth and peace."

The fasts of the fourth (lamented the breaching of the walls of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar)
2 Kings 25:3-6a  By the ninth day of the fourth month the famine in the city had become so severe that there was no food for the people to eat. Then the city wall was broken through, and the whole army fled at night through the gate between the two walls near the king's garden, though the Babylonians were surrounding the city. They fled toward the Arabah, but the Babylonian army pursued the king and overtook him in the plains of Jericho. All his soldiers were separated from him and scattered, and he was captured.
Jeremiah 39:2  And on the ninth day of the fourth month of Zedekiah's eleventh year, the city wall was broken through.

fifth (commemorated the burning of the temple and the other important buildings)
2 Kings 25:8-9  On the seventh day of the fifth month, in the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan commander of the imperial guard, an official of the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem. He set fire to the temple of the LORD, the royal palace and all the houses of Jerusalem. Every important building he burned down.
Jeremiah 52:12-13  On the tenth day of the fifth month, in the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan commander of the imperial guard, who served the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem. He set fire to the temple of the LORD, the royal palace and all the houses of Jerusalem. Every important building he burned down. (the difference of days is due to copier error, the correct one is not known)

seventh (marked the anniversary of Gedaliah's assassination)
2 Kings 25:25  In the seventh month however, Ishmael son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, who was of royal blood, came with ten men and assassinated Gedaliah and also the men of Judah and the Babylonians who were with him at Mizpah.
Jeremiah 41:1-2  In the seventh month Ishmael son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, who was of royal blood and had been one of the king's officers, came with ten men to Gedaliah son of Ahikam at Mizpah. While they were eating together there, Ishmael son of Nethaniah and the ten men who were with him got up and struck down Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, with the sword, killing the one whom the king of Babylon had appointed as governor over the land.

TRUTH Zechariah 8:16-17 Part 2 of 2

"These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth to each other, and render true and sound judgment in your courts; do not plot evil against each other, and do not love to swear falsely. I hate all this," declares the LORD.

and do not love to swear falsely
Proverbs 6:16-19  There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.
Jeremiah 7:9-11  " 'Will you steal and murder, commit adultery and perjury, burn incense to Baal and follow other gods you have not known, and then come and stand before me in this house, which bears my Name, and say, "We are safe"--safe to do all these detestable things? Has this house, which bears my Name, become a den of robbers to you? But I have been watching! declares the LORD.' "
Zechariah 5:3-4  And he said to me, "This is the curse that is going out over the whole land; for according to what it says on one side, every thief will be banished, and according to what it says on the other, everyone who swears falsely will be banished. The LORD Almighty declares, 'I will send it out and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of anyone who swears falsely by my name. It will remain in that house and destroy it completely, both its timbers and its stones.' "

Ephesians 4:25  Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.

TRUTH Amos 5:10

There are those who hate the one who upholds justice in court and detest the one who tells the truth.

There are those who hate the one who upholds justice in court
Isaiah 29:20-21  The ruthless will vanish, the mockers will disappear, and all who have an eye for evil will be cut down--those who with a word make someone out to be guilty, who ensnare the defender in court and with false testimony deprive the innocent of justice.

and detest the one who tells the truth
1 Kings 22:8  The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat, "There is still one prophet through whom we can inquire of the LORD, but I hate him because he never prophesies anything good about me, but always bad. He is Micaiah son of Imlah."  "The king should not say such a thing," Jehoshaphat replied.
Galatians 4:16  Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth?

TRUTH Daniel 10:20-11:1

So he said, "Do you know why I have come to you? Soon I will return to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I go, the prince of Greece will come; but first I will tell you what is written in the Book of Truth. (No one supports me against them except Michael, your prince. And in the first year of Darius the Mede, I took my stand to support and protect him.)"

Soon I will return to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I go, the prince of Greece will come; but first I will tell you what is written in the Book of Truth
Daniel 8:21  "The shaggy goat is the king of Greece, and the large horn between its eyes is the first king."
Daniel 11:2  "Now then, I tell you the truth: Three more kings will arise in Persia [Cambyses, Pseudo-Smerdis or Gaumata, Darius], and then a fourth [Xerxes], who will be far richer than all the others. When he has gained power by his wealth, he will stir up everyone against the kingdom of Greece."

No one supports me except Michael, your prince
Daniel 10:13  "But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia."
Jude 9  But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not himself dare to condemn him for slander but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"

And in the first year of Darius the Mede, I took my stand to support and protect him
Daniel 5:30-31  That very night Belshazzar, king of the Babylonians was slain, and Darius the Mede took over the kingdom, at the age of sixty-two.

TRUTH Daniel 9:13-14 Part 2 of 2

"Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come on us, yet we have not sought the favor of the LORD our God by turning from our sins and giving attention to your truth. The LORD did not hesitate to bring the disaster on us, for the LORD our God is righteous in everything he does; yet we have not obeyed him."

The LORD did not hesitate to bring the disaster on us
Jeremiah 18:7-8  "If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed, and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned."
Jeremiah 44:26-27  "But hear the word of the LORD, all you Jews living in Egypt: 'I swear by my great name,' says the LORD, 'that no one from Judah living anywhere in Egypt will ever again invoke my name or swear, "As surely as the Sovereign LORD lives." For I am watching over them for harm, not for good; the Jews in Egypt will perish by sword and famine until they are all destroyed.' "

for the LORD our God is righteous in everything he does
Genesis 18:25  "Far be it from you to do such a thing--to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?"
2 Chronicles 12:6  The leaders of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, "The LORD is just."
Jeremiah 12:1  You are always righteous, LORD, when I bring a case before you. Yet I would speak to you about your justice: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all the faithless live at ease?

yet we have not obeyed him
Nehemiah 9:33  "In all that has happened to us, you have remained righteous; you have acted faithfully, while we acted wickedly."
Jeremiah 32:23  "They came in and took possession of it, but they did not obey you or follow your law; they did not do what you commanded them to do. So you brought all this disaster on them."
Jeremiah 40:3  "And now the LORD has brought it about; he has done just as he said he would. All this happened because you people sinned against the LORD and did not obey him."

The LORD did not hesitate to bring the disaster on us, for the LORD our God is righteous in everything he does; yet we have not obeyed him."

yet we have not sought the favor of the LORD our God
Deuteronomy 4:29  But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Isaiah 31:1  Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the LORD.

by turning from our sins and giving attention to your truth

TRUTH Daniel 8:9-12 Part 2 of 2

Out of one of them came another horn, which started small but grew in power to the south and to the east and toward the Beautiful Land. It grew until it reached the host of the heavens, and it threw some of the starry host down to the earth and trampled on them. It set itself up to be as great as the commander of the army of the LORD; it took away the daily sacrifice from the LORD, and his sanctuary was thrown down. Because of rebellion, the LORD's people and the daily sacrifice were given over to it. It prospered in everything it did, and truth was thrown to the ground.

It set itself up to be as great as the commander
Daniel 8:25  "He will cause deceit to prosper, and he will consider himself superior. When they feel secure, he will destroy many and take his stand against the Prince of princes (God). Yet he will be destroyed, but not by human power."

of the army of the LORD
Daniel 11:36-37  "The king will do as he pleases. He will exact and magnify himself above every god and will say unheard of things against the God of gods. He will be successful until the time of wrath is completed, for what has been determined must take place. He will show no regard for the gods of his ancestors or for the one desired by women, nor will he regard any god, but will exalt himself above them all."

it took away the daily sacrifice from the LORD
Ezekiel 46:13-14  " 'Every day you are to provide a year-old lamb without defect for a burnt offering to the LORD; morning by morning you shall provide it. You are also to provide with it morning by morning a grain offering, consisting of a sixth of an ephah with a third of a hin of oil to moisten the flour. The presenting of this grain offering to the LORD is a lasting ordinance.' "

and his sanctuary was thrown down
Daniel 11:31  "His armed forces will rise up to desecrate the temple fortress and will abolish the daily sacrifice. Then they will set up the abomination that causes desolation."
Daniel 12:11  "From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days."

and truth was thrown to the ground
Isaiah 48:1  "Listen to this, you descendants of Jacob, you who are called by the name of Israel and come from the line of Judah, you who take oaths in the name of the LORD and invoke the God of Israel--but not in truth or righteousness--..."

TRUTH Daniel 8:9-12 Part 1 of 2

Out of one of them came another horn, which started small but grew in power to the south and to the east and toward the Beautiful Land. It grew until it reached the host of the heavens, and it threw some of the starry host down to the earth and trampled on them. It set itself up to be as great as the commander of the army of the LORD; it took away the daily sacrifice from the LORD, and his sanctuary was thrown down. Because of rebellion, the LORD's people and the daily sacrifice were given over to it. It prospered in everything it did, and truth was thrown to the ground.

Out of one of them came another horn, which started small
Daniel 7:8  "While I was thinking about the horns, there before me was another horn, a little one, which came up among them; and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like the eyes of human being and a mouth that spoke boastfully."

but grew in power to the south and to the east and toward the Beautiful Land
Ezekiel 20:6  " 'On that day I swore to them that I would bring them out of Egypt into a land I had searched out for them, a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands.' "
Daniel 11:16  "The invader will do as he pleases; no one will be able to stand against him. He will establish himself in the Beautiful Land and will have the power to destroy it."

It grew until it reached the host of the heavens
Isaiah 14:13-14  You said in your heart, "I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High."

and it threw some of the starry host down to the earth
Revelation 8:10  The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water--...
Revelation 12:4  Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born.

and trampled on them
Daniel 7:7  "After that, in my vision at night I looked, and there before me was a fourth beast--terrifying and frightening and very powerful. It had large iron teeth; it crushed and devoured its victims and trampled underfoot whatever was left. It was different from all the former beasts, and it had ten horns."

TRUTH Jeremiah 26:14-15

"As for me, I am in your hands; do with me whatever you think is good and right. Be assured, however, that if you put me to death, you will bring the guilt of innocent blood on yourselves and on this city and on those who live in it, for in truth the LORD has sent me to you to speak all these words in your hearing."

As for me, I am in your hands
Joshua 9:25  "We are now in your hands. Do to us whatever seems good and right to you."
Jeremiah 38:5  "He is in your hands," King Zedekiah answered. "The king can do nothing to oppose you."

you will bring the guilt of innocent blood on yourselves and on this city and on those who live in it
Deuteronomy 19:10  Do this so that innocent blood will not be shed in your land, which the LORD your God is giving you as your inheritance, and so that you will not be guilty of bloodshed.
Jeremiah 7:5-8  " 'If you really change your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly, if you do not oppress the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm, then I will let you live in this place, in the land I gave your ancestors for ever and ever. But look, you are trusting in deceptive words that are worthless.' "
Matthew 27:24-25  When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. "I am innocent of this man's blood," he said. "It is your responsibility!" All the people answered, "His blood is on us and on our children!"
Acts 5:28  "We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name," he said. "Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man's blood."

for in truth the LORD has sent me to you to speak all these words in your hearing
Jeremiah 26:12  Then Jeremiah said to all the officials and all the people: "The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and this city all the things you have heard."
Jeremiah 1:17  "Get yourself ready! Stand up and say to them whatever I command you. Do not be terrified by them, or I will terrify you before them."

TRUTH Jeremiah 9:4-6

"Beware of your friends; do not trust anyone in your clan, for every one of them is a deceiver, and every friend a slanderer. Friend deceives friend, and no one speaks the truth. They have taught their tongues to lie; they weary themselves with sinning. You live in the midst of deception; in their deceit they refuse to acknowledge me," declares the LORD.

Beware of your friends
2 Samuel 15:12  While Absalom as offering sacrifices, he also sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David's counselor, to come from Giloh, his hometown. And so the conspiracy gained strength, and Absalom's following kept on increasing.

do not trust anyone in your clan
Micah 7:5-6  Do not trust a neighbor; put no confidence in a friend. Even with the woman who lies in your embrace guard the words of your lips. For a son dishonors his father, a daughter rises up against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law--a man;'s enemies are the members of his own household.

For every one of them is a deceiver
Genesis 27:35  But he said, "Your brother came deceitfully and took your blessing."

and every friend a slanderer
Exodus 20:16  "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor."
Leviticus 19:16  " 'Do not go about spreading slander among your people. Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor's life. I am the LORD.' "

Friend deceives friend
Leviticus 6:2  "If anyone sins and is unfaithful to the LORD by deceiving a neighbor about something entrusted to them or left in their care or about something stolen, or if they cheat their neighbor, ..." (continued in verses 3-7)

and no one speaks the truth
Psalm 15:2  The one whose walk is blameless, who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from their heart; ...
Isaiah 59:15  Truth is nowhere to be found, and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey. The LORD looked and was displeased that there was no justice.

They have taught their tongues to lie
Psalm 52:3  You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth.

You live in the midst of deception
Jeremiah 5:27-28  "Like cages full of birds, their houses are full of deceit; they have become rich and powerful and have grown fat and sleek. Their evil deeds have no limit; they do not seek justice. They do not promote the case of the fatherless; they do not defend the just cause of the poor."

TRUTH Jeremiah 9:3

"They make ready their tongue like a bow, to shoot lies; it is not by truth that they triumph in the land. They go from one sin to another; they do not acknowledge me," declares the LORD.

They make ready their tongue like a bow, to shoot lies
Jeremiah 9:8  "Their tongue is a deadly arrow; it speaks deceitfully. With their mouths they all speak cordially to their neighbors, but in their hearts they set traps for them."
Exodus 20:16  "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor."
Psalm 64:3  They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim cruel words like deadly arrows.
Isaiah 44:19-20  No one stops to think, no one has the knowledge or understanding to say, "Half of it I used for fuel; I even baked bread over its coals, I roasted meat and I ate. Shall I make a detestable thing from what is left? Shall I bow down to a block of wood?" Such a person feeds on ashes; a deluded heart misleads him; he cannot save himself, or say, "Is not this thing in my right hand a lie?"
Jeremiah 18:18  They say, "Come, let's make plans against Jeremiah; for the teaching of the law by the priest will not cease, nor will counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophets. So come, let's attack him with our tongues and pay no attention to anything he says."
Micah 6:12  "Your rich people are violent; your inhabitants are liars and their tongues speak deceitfully."

"They go from one sin to another; they do not acknowledge me," declares the LORD
Isaiah 11:2-3  Hear me, you heavens! Listen, earth! For the LORD has spoken: "I reared children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against me. The ox knows its master, the donkey its owner's manger, but Israel does not know, my people do not understand."

TRUTH Jeremiah 7:28

"Therefore say to them, 'This is the nation that has not obeyed the LORD its God or responded to correction. Truth has perished; it has vanished from their lips.' "

This is the nation that has not obeyed the LORD its God or responded to correction
Leviticus 26:23-24  " 'If in spite of these things you do not accept my correction but continue to be hostile toward me, I myself will be hostile toward you and will afflict you for your sins seven times over.' "
Zephaniah 3:7  "Of Jerusalem I thought, 'Surely you will fear me and accept correction!' Then her place of refuge would not be destroyed, nor all my punishments come upon her. But they were still eager to act corruptly in all they did."

Truth has perished; it has vanished from their lips
Psalm 15:1-5  LORD, who may dwell in your sacred tent? Who may live on your holy mountain? The one whose walk is blameless, who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from their heart; whose tongue utters no slander, who does no wrong to a neighbor, and casts no slur on others; who despises a vile person but honors those who fear the LORD; who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and does not change their mind; who lends money to the poor without interest; who does not accept a bribe against the innocent. Whoever does these things will never be shaken.
Isaiah 59:14-15  So justice is driven back, and righteousness stands at a distance; truth has stumbled in the streets, honesty cannot enter. Truth is nowhere to be found, and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey. The LORD looked and was displeased that there was no justice.

LORD, do not your eyes look for truth? You struck them, but they felt no pain; you crushed them, but they refused correction. They made their faces harder than stone and refused to repent.

TRUTH Jeremiah 5:3 Part 1 of 2

Ezekiel 3:8-9  "But I will make you as unyielding and hardened as they are. I will make your forehead like the hardest stone, harder than flint. Do not be afraid of them or terrified by them, though they are a rebellious people."
Zechariah 7:12  "They made their hearts as hard as flint and would not listen to the law or to the words that the LORD Almighty had sent by his Spirit through the earlier prophets. So the LORD Almighty was very angry."

TRUTH Jeremiah 5:1

"Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem, look around and consider, search through her squares. If you can find but one person who deals honestly and seeks the truth, I will forgive this city."

Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem
2 Chronicles 16:9  "For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war."
Ezekiel 22:30  "I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one."

look around and consider
Psalm 45:10  Listen, daughter, and pay careful attention: Forget your people and your father's house.

If you can find one person
Genesis 18:32  Then he said, "May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?" He answered, "For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it."
Jeremiah 2:29  "Why do you bring charges against me? You have all rebelled against me," declares the LORD.

who deals honestly and seeks the truth
Jeremiah 5:31  "The prophets prophesy lies, the priests rule by their own authority, and my people love it this way. But what will you do in the end?"
Jeremiah 14:14  Then the LORD said to me, "The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I have not sent them or appointed them or spoken to them. They are prophesying to you false visions, divinations, idolatries and the delusions of their own minds."

I will forgive this city
Genesis 18:24  "What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it?"

Additional verses:
Zephaniah 1:2  At that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps and punish those who are complacent, who are like wine left on the dregs, who think, "The LORD will do nothing, either good or bad."
Psalm 14:2-3  The LORD looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. All have turned away, all have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
Isaiah 64:6-7  All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away. No one calls on your name or strives to lay hold of you; for you have hidden your face from us and have given us over to our sins.

TRUTH Isaiah 59:14-15

So justice is driven back, and righteousness stands at a distance; truth has stumbled in the streets, honesty cannot enter. Truth is nowhere to be found, and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey. The LORD looked and was displeased that there was no justice.

So justice is driven back
Isaiah 29:20-21  The ruthless will vanish, the mockers will disappear, and all who have an eye for evil will be cut down--those who with a word make someone out to be guilty, who ensnare the defender in court and with false testimony deprive the innocent of justice.

and righteousness stands at a distance
Isaiah 1:21  See how the faithful city has become a prostitute! She was once full of justice; righteousness used to dwell in her--but now murderers!

truth has stumbled in the streets
Isaiah 48:1  "Listen to this, you descendants of Jacob, you who are called by the name of Israel and come from the line of Judah, you who take oaths in the name of the LORD and invoke the God of Israel--but not in truth or righteousness--..."
Jeremiah 33:16  " 'In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. This is the name by which it will be called: The LORD Our Righteous Savior.' "

Truth is nowhere to be found
Jeremiah 7:28  "Therefore say to them, 'This is the nation that has not obeyed the LORD its God or responded to correction. Truth has perished; it has vanished from their lips.' "
Jeremiah 9:5  "Friend deceives friend, and no one speaks the truth. They have taught their tongues to lie; they weary themselves with sinning."
Daniel 8:12  Because of rebellion, the LORD's people and the daily sacrifice were given over to it. It prospered in every thing it did, and truth was thrown to the ground.

The LORD looked and was displeased that there was no justice
Isaiah 5:7  The vineyard of the LORD Almighty is the nation of Israel, and the people of Judah are the vines he delighted in. And he looked for justice, but saw bloodshed; for righteousness, but heard cries of distress.

TRUTH Isaiah 48:1-3 Part 5 of 5

"Listen to this, you descendants of Jacob, you who are called by the name of Israel and come from the line of Judah, you who take oaths in the name of the LORD and invoke the God of Israel--but not in truth or righteousness--you who call yourselves citizens of the holy city and claim to rely on the God of Israel--the LORD Almighty is his name: I foretold the former things long ago, my mouth announced them and I made them known; then suddenly I acted and they came to pass."

the LORD Almighty is his name
Isaiah 47:4  Our Redeemer--the LORD Almighty is his name--is the Holy One of Israel.

I foretold the former things long ago
Isaiah 41:22-24  "Tell us, you idols, what is going to happen. Tell us what the former things were, so that we may consider them and know their final outcome. Or declare to us the things to come, tell us what the future holds, so we may know that you are gods. Do something, whether good or bad, so that we will be dismayed and filled with fear. But you are less than nothing and your works are utterly worthless; whoever chooses you is detestable."

my mouth announced them and I made them known
Isaiah 40:21  Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the earth was founded?
Isaiah 45:21  "Declare what is to be, present it--let them take counsel together. Who foretold this long ago, who declared it from the distant past? Was it not I, the LORD? And there is no God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me."

then suddenly I acted
Isaiah 17:14  In the evening, sudden terror! Before the morning they are gone! This is the portion of those who loot us, the lot of those who plunder us.
Isaiah 30:12-14  Therefore this is what the Holy One of Israel says: "Because you have rejected this message, relied on oppression and depended on deceit, this sin will become for you like a high wall, cracked and bulging, that collapses suddenly, in an instant. It will break in pieces like pottery, shattered so mercilessly that among its pieces not a fragment will be found for taking coals from a hearth or scooping water out of a cistern."

TRUTH Isaiah 48:1-3 Part 4 of 5

"Listen to this, you descendants of Jacob, you who are called by the name of Israel and come from the line of Judah, you who take oaths in the name of the LORD and invoke the God of Israel--but not in truth or righteousness--you who call yourselves citizens of the holy city and claim to rely on the God of Israel--the LORD Almighty is his name: I foretold the former things long ago, my mouth announced them and I made them known; then suddenly I acted and they came to pass."

and claim to rely on the God of Israel
Isaiah 10:20  In that day the remnant of Israel, the survivors of Jacob, will no longer rely on him who struck them down but will truly rely on the LORD, the Holy One of Israel.
Romans 2:17-24  Now you, if you call yourself a Jew; if you rely on the law and boast in God; if you know his will and approve of what is superior because you are instructed by the law; if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light for those who are in the dark, an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of little children because you have in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth--you, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal? You who say that people should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law? As it is written: "God's name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you." (Isaiah 52:5; Ezekiel 36:20, 22)
