Mark 6:14-15 Part 2 of 2

    King Herod heard about this, for Jesus' name had become well known. Some were saying, "John the Baptist has been raised from the dead, and that is why miraculous powers are at work in him."

    Others said, "He is Elijah."

    And still others claimed, "He is a prophet, like one of the prophets of long ago."

Malachi 4:5  "See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes."

Deuteronomy 18:15  The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him.

John 6:14  After the people saw the sign Jesus performed, they began to say, "Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world."

Luke 7:16-17  They were all filled with awe and praised God. "A great prophet has appeared among us," they said. "God has come to help his people." This news about Jesus spread throughout Judea and the surrounding country.

Matthew 16:13-16  When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi he asked his disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?"

    They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets."

    "But what about you?" he asked, "who do you say I am?"

    Simon Peter answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God."  (see Matthew 16:13-20)

Matthew 21:10-11  When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, "Who is this?"

    The crowds answered, "This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee." (see Matthew 21:1-11)

Luke 24:18-19  One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, "Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?"

    "What things?" he asked.

    "About Jesus of Nazareth," they replied. "He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people."  (see Luke 24:13-35)
