Romans 9:4-5 Part 1 of 4

... the people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption to sonship; theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises. Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.

Romans 9:6  It is not as though God's word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.

Theirs is the adoption to sonship 

Exodus 4:22-23  "Then say to Pharaoh, 'This is what the LORD says: Israel is my firstborn son, and I told you, "Let my son go, so he may worship me." But you refused to let him go; so I will kill your firstborn son.' "

Exodus 6:7  " 'I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. then  you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.' "

Deuteronomy 7:6  For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.

Hebrews 9:5  Above the ark were the cherubim of the Glory, overshadowing the atonement cover. But we cannot discuss these things in detail now.

Exodus 25:17-20  "Make an atonement cover of pure gold--two and a half cubits long (about 45 inches) and a cubit and a half wide (about 27 inches). And make two cherubim out of hammered gold at the ends of the cover. Make one cherub on one end and the second on the other; make the cherubim of one piece with the cover, at the two ends. The cherubim are to have their wings spread upward, overshadowing the cover with them. The cherubim are to face each other, looking toward the cover."
