1 Peter 2:11-12 Part 1 of 3

Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

Dear friends
1 Corinthians 10:14  Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.
Hebrews 6:9  Even though we speak like this, dear friends, we are convinced of better things in your case--things that have to do with salvation.
1 John 2:7  Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard.
Jude 3  Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God's holy people.

I urge you, as foreigners and exiles
Hebrews 11:13  All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth.
Philippians 3:20-21  But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.
1 Peter 1:17  Since you call on a Father who judges each person's work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear.

to abstain from sinful desires
Romans 13:14  Rather clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.
Galatians 5:16  So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

which wage war against your soul
James 4:1-3  What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
