But they would not listen and were as stiff-necked as their ancestors, who did not trust in the LORD their God.

Exodus 32:7-9  Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt, have become corrupt. They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, 'These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.' I have seen these people," the LORD said to Moses, "and they are a stiff-necked people."
Acts 7:51-53  "You stiff-necked people! Your hearts and ears are still uncircumcised. You are just like your ancestors: You always resist the Holy Spirit! Was there ever a prophet your ancestors did not persecute? They even killed those who predicted the coming the Righteous One. And now you have betrayed and murdered him--you have received the law that was given through angels but have not obeyed it." (Stephen speaking to the Sanhedrin)
