They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. "Peace, peace." they say, when there is no peace.
Jeremiah 8:15 We hoped for peace but no good has come, for a time of healing but there is only terror.
Jeremiah 4:10 Then I said, "Alas, Sovereign LORD! How completely you have deceived this people and Jerusalem by saying, 'You will have peace,' when the sword is at our throats!"
Ezekiel 7:25-27 " 'When terror comes, they will seek peace in vain. Calamity upon calamity will come, and rumor upon rumor. They will go searching for a vision from the prophet, priestly instruction in the law will cease, the counsel of the elders will come to an end. The king will mourn, the prince will be clothed with despair, and the hands of the people of the land will tremble. I will deal with them according to their conduct, and by their own standards I will judge them. Then they will know that I am the LORD.' "

PEACE Jeremiah 6:13-14
"From the least to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; prophets and priests alike, all practice deceit. They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. 'Peace, peace,' they say, when there is no peace."
From the least to the greatest, all
Jeremiah 2:29 "Why do you bring charges against me? You have all rebelled against me," declared the LORD.
are greedy for gain
Isaiah 56:11-12 They are dogs with mighty appetites; they never have enough. They are shepherds who lack understanding; they all turn to their own way, they seek their own gain. "Come," each one cries, "let me get wine! Let us drink our fill of beer! And tomorrow will be like today, or even far better."
prophets and priests alike, all practice deceit
Lamentations 4:13 But it happened because of the sins of her prophets and the iniquities of her priests, who shed within her the blood of the righteous.
"Peace, peace," they say when there is no peace
Isaiah 30:10-11 They say to the seers, "See no more visions!" and to the prophets, "Give us no more visions of what is right! Tell us pleasant things, prophesy illusions. Leave this way, get off this path, and stop confronting us with the Holy One of Israel!"
Jeremiah 4:10 Then I said, "Alas, Sovereign LORD! How completely you have deceived this people and Jerusalem by saying, 'You will have peace,' when the sword is at our throats!"
Jeremiah 23:16-17 This is what the LORD Almighty says: "Do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you; they fill you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the LORD. They keep saying to those who despise me, 'The LORD says: You will have peace.' And to all who follow the stubbornness of their hearts they say. 'No harm will come to you.' "
1 Kings 22:20-23 "And the LORD said, 'Who will entice Ahab into attacking Ramoth Gilead and going to his death there?' One suggested this, and another that. Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before the LORD and said, 'I will entice him.' 'By what means?' the LORD asked. 'I will go out and become a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all his prophets.' he said. 'You will succeed in enticing him,' said the LORD. 'Go and do it.' "

PEACE Isaiah 59:8
The way of peace they do not know; there is no justice in their paths. They have turned them into crooked roads; no one who walks along them will know peace.
The way of peace they do not know
Romans 3:10-18 As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one." (Psalm 14:1-3; 53:1-3; Ecclesiastes 7:20) "Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit." (Psalm 5:9) "The poison of vipers is on their lips." (Psalm 140:3) "Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness." (Psalm 10:7) "Their feet are swift to shed blood; ruin and misery mark their ways, and the way of peace they do not know." (Isaiah 59:7-8) "There is no fear of God before their eyes." (Psalm 36:1)
there is no justice in their paths. They have turned them into crooked roads
Judges 5:6 "In the days of Shamgar son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were abandoned; travelers took to winding paths."
no one who walks along them will know peace
Isaiah 57:21 "There is no peace," says my God, "for the wicked."
Luke 1:79 "... to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace."

PEACE Isaiah 57: 20-21
But the wicked are like the tossing sea, which cannot rest, whose waves cast up mire and mud. "There is no peace," says my God, "for the wicked."
But the wicked
Job 18:5 (read verses 5-21) "The lamp of the wicked man is snuffed out; the flame of his fire stops burning."
are like the tossing sea, which cannot rest
Genesis 49:3-4 "Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might, the first sign of my strength, excelling in honor, excelling in power. Turbulent as the waters, you will no longer excel, for you went up onto your father's bed, onto my couch and defiled it."
Ephesians 4:14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.
Jude 13 They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.
whose waves cast up mire and mud
Psalm 69:14 Rescue me from the mire, do not let me sink; deliver me from those who hate me, from the deep waters.
There is no peace
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
Isaiah 59:8 The way of peace they do not know; there is no justice in their paths. They have turned them into crooked roads; no one who walks along them will know peace.
Ezekiel 13:15-16 " 'So I will pour out my wrath against the wall and against those who covered it with whitewash. I will say to you, "The wall is gone and so are those who whitewashed it, those prophets of Israel who prophesied to Jerusalem and saw visions of peace for her when there was no peace, declares the Sovereign LORD." ' "

PEACE Isaiah 57:18-19 Part 2 of 2
"I have seen
their ways, but I will heal them; I will guide them and restore comfort
to Israel's mourners, creating praise on their lips. Peace, peace, to
those far and near," says the LORD. "And I will heal them."
creating praise on their lips
Isaiah 6:7 With it he touched my mouth and said, "See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for."
Isaiah 51:16 "I have put my words in your mouth and covered you with the shadow of my hand--I who set the heavens in place, who laid the foundations of the earth, and who say to Zion, 'Your are my people.' "
Isaiah 59:21 "As for me, this is my covenant with them," says the LORD. "My Spirit, who is on you, will not depart from you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will always be on your lips, on the lips of your children and on the lips of their descendants--from this time on and forever," says the LORD.
Hebrews 13:15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise--the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.
Peace, peace
Isaiah 2:4 He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
Isaiah 26:12 LORD, you establish peace for us; all that we have accomplished you have done for us.
Isaiah 32:17 The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever.
Luke 2:14 "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests."
to those far and near
Acts 2:39 "The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off--to all whom the Lord our God will call."

PEACE Isaiah 57:18-19 Part 1 of 2
"I have seen their ways, but I will heal them; I will guide them and restore comfort to Israel's mourners, creating praise on their lips. Peace, peace, to those far and near," says the LORD. "And I will heal them."
I have seen their ways, but I will heal them
Deuteronomy 32:39 "See now that I myself am he! There is no God besides me. I put to death and I bring to life, I have wounded and I will heal, and no one can deliver out of my hand."
2 Chronicles 7:14 "... if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
Isaiah 30:26 The moon will shine like the sun, and the sunlight will be seven times brighter, like the sun of seven full days, when the LORD binds up the bruises of his people and heals the wounds he inflicted.
I will guide them
Psalm 48:14 For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.
Isaiah 42:16 "I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them."
Isaiah 48:17 This is what the LORD says--your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go."
and restore comfort to Israel's mourners
Isaiah 49:13 Shout for joy, you heavens; rejoice you earth; burst into song, you mountains! For the LORD comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones.
Isaiah 61:1-3 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion--to bestow a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.

PEACE Isaiah 54:10 Part 1 of 2
"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you.
Though the mountains be shaken
Psalm 46:1-3 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
Revelation 6:14 The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.
yet my unfailing love for you
Psalm 6:4 Turn, LORD, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love.
will not be shaken
Isaiah 51:6 "Lift up your eyes to the heavens, look at the earth beneath; the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment and its inhabitants die like flies. But my salvation will last forever, my righteousness will never fail."
Hebrews 12:27 The words "once more" (from Haggai 2:6) indicate the removing of what can be shaken--that is, created things--so that what cannot be shaken may remain.

PEACE Isaiah 53:5 Part 2 of 2
But he was
pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the
punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are
healed.
the punishment
Isaiah 50:6 I offered my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard; I did not hide my face from mocking and spitting.
that brought us peace was on him
Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, ...
and by his wounds
Isaiah 1:6 From the sole of your foot to the top of your head there is no soundness--only wounds and welts and open sores, not cleansed or bandaged or soothed with olive oil.
Matthew 27:26 Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified.
John 19:1 Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged.
we are healed
Deuteronomy 32:39 "See now that I myself am he! There is no God besides me. I put to death and I bring to life, I have wounded and I will heal, and no one can deliver out of my hand."
2 Chronicles 7:14 "... if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
1 Peter 2:24-25 He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; "by his wounds you have been healed." For "you were like sheep going astray," (Isaiah 53:6) but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

PEACE Isaiah 53:5 Part 1 of 2
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
But he was pierced
Psalm 22:16 Dogs surround me, a pack of villains encircles me; they pierce my hands and my feet.
for our transgressions
Exodus 28:38 It will be on Aaron's forehead, and he will bear the guilt involved in the sacred gifts the Israelites consecrate, whatever their gifts may be. It will be on Aaron's forehead continually so that they will be acceptable to the LORD.
Psalm 39:8 Save me from all my transgressions; do not make me the scorn of fools.
John 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Romans 4:25 He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.
1 Corinthians 15:3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, ...
Hebrews 9:27-28 Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
he was crushed for our iniquities
Psalm 34:18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

PEACE Isaiah 52:7
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!"
How beautiful on the mountains
Isaiah 42:11 Let the wilderness and its towns raise their voices; let the settlements where Kedar lives rejoice. Let the people of Sela sing for joy; let them shout from the mountaintops.
are the feet of those who bring good news
2 Samuel 18:26 Then the watchman saw another runner, and he called down to the gatekeeper, "Look, another man is running alone!" The king said, "He must be bringing good news, too."
Isaiah 40:9 You who bring good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who bring good news to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, "Here is your God!"
Romans 10:15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"
who proclaim peace
Nahum 1:15 Look, there on the mountains, the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace! Celebrate your festivals, Judah, and fulfill your vows. No more will the wicked invade you; they will be completely destroyed.
Luke 2:14 "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests."
Ephesians 6:14-15 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!"
1 Chronicles 16:31 Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let them say among the nations, "The LORD reigns!"
Psalm 97:1 The LORD reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice.
1 Corinthians 15:24-26 Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death.

PEACE Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
There is a time for everything
Ecclesiastes 3:11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
Ecclesiastes 3:17 I said to myself, "God will bring into judgment both the righteous and the wicked, for there will be a time for every activity, a time to judge every deed."
Ecclesiastes 8:6 For there is a proper time and procedure for every matter, though a person may be weighed down by misery.
a time to plant and a time to uproot
Isaiah 28:24 When a farmer plows for planting, does he plow continually? Does he keep on breaking up and working the soil?
a time to kill and a time to heal
Deuteronomy 5:17 "You shall not murder."
a time to be silent and a time to speak
Esther 4:14 "For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?"

PEACE Proverbs 16:7
When the LORD takes pleasure in anyone's way, he causes their enemies to make peace with them.
he causes their enemies to make peace
Genesis 39:20b-23 But while Joseph was there in the prison, the LORD was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there. The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph's care, because the LORD was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.
with them
Psalm 105:15 "Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm."
Jeremiah 39:12 "Take him (Jeremiah) and look after him; don't harm him but do for him whatever he asks."
Jeremiah 40:1-4 The word came to Jeremiah from the LORD after Nebuzaradan commander of the imperial guard had released him at Ramah. He had found Jeremiah bound in chains among all the captives from Jerusalem and Judah who were being carried into exile to Babylon. When the commander of the guard found Jeremiah, he said to him, "The LORD your God decreed this disaster for this place. And now the LORD has brought it about; he has done just as he said he would. All this happened because you people sinned against the LORD and did not obey him. But today I am freeing you from the chains on your wrists. Come with me to Babylon, if you like, and I will look after you; but if you do not want to, then don't come. Look, the whole country lies before you; go wherever you please."
Jeremiah 42:9-12 He (Jeremiah) said to them, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, to whom you sent me to present your petition, says: 'If you stay in this land, I will build you up and not tear you down; I will plant you and not uproot you, for I have relented concerning the disaster I have inflicted on you. Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon, whom you now fear. Do not be afraid of him, declares the LORD, for I am with you and will save you and deliver you from his hands. I will show you compassion so that he will have compassion on you and restore you to your land.' "

PEACE Proverbs 14:30
A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.
A heart at peace gives life to the body
Proverbs 3:7-8 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.
Proverbs 3:16-18 Long life is in her (Wisdom's) right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed.
but envy rots the bones
Proverbs 17:22 A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
Proverbs 12:4 A wife of noble character is her husband's crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones.
Psalm 37:7-8 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret--it leads only to evil.

Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil, but those who promote peace have joy.
Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil
Proverbs 6:12-15 A troublemaker and a villain, who goes about with a corrupt mouth, who winks maliciously with his eye, signals with his feet and motions with his fingers, who plots evil with deceit in his heart--he always stirs up conflict. Therefore disaster will overtake him in an instant; he will suddenly be destroyed--without remedy.

Proverbs 24:1-2 Do not envy the wicked, do not desire their company; for their hearts plot violence, and their lips talk about making trouble.
but those who promote peace have joy

Matthew 5:9 "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God."

PEACE Psalm 122:6-9
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels." For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, "Peace be within you." For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your prosperity.
May those who love you be secure
Psalm 26:8 LORD, I love the house where you live, the place where your glory dwells.
May there be peace within your walls
1 Samuel 25:6 "Say to him, 'Long life to you! Good health to you and your household! And good health to all that is yours!' "
and security within your citadels
Psalm 48:1-3 Great is the LORD, and most worthy of praise, in the city of our God, his holy mountain. Beautiful in its loftiness, the joy of the whole earth, like the heights of Zaphon is Mount Zion, the city of the Great King. God is in her citadels; he has shown himself to be her fortress.
For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your prosperity
Psalm 128:5 May the LORD bless you from Zion; may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life.
