PRAY 1 Corinthians 14:13-17 Part 3 of 3

For this reason the one who speaks in a tongue should pray that they may interpret what they say. For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my understanding; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my understanding. Otherwise when you are praising God in the Spirit, how can someone else, who is now put in the position of an inquirer, say "Amen" to your thanksgiving, since they do not know what you are saying? You are giving thanks well enough, but no one else is edified.

to your thanksgiving
Matthew 14:19  And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.
1 Corinthians 11:23-26  For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me." In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me." For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.

You are giving thanks well enough, but no one else is edified
1 Corinthians 14:1-3  Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy. For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.

1 Chronicles 16:36  Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Then all the people said "Amen" and "Praise the LORD."
Nehemiah 8:6  Ezra praised the LORD, the great God; and all the people lifted their hands and responded, "Amen! Amen!" Then they bowed down and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground.
Psalm 106:48  Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say, "Amen!" Praise the LORD.
Revelation 5:14  The four living creatures said, "Amen," and the elders fell down and worshiped.
Revelation 7:11-12  All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying: "Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!"

PRAY 1 Corinthians 14:13-17 Part 1 of 3

For this reason the one who speaks in a tongue should pray that they may interpret what they say. For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my understanding; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my understanding. Otherwise when you are praising God in the Spirit, how can someone else, who is now put in the position of an inquirer, say "Amen" to your thanksgiving, since they do not know what you are saying? You are giving thanks well enough, but no one else is edified.

For this reason the one who speaks in a tongue should pray that they may interpret what they say
1 Corinthians 14:5  I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified.

For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful
1 Corinthians 14:2  For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit.

I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my understanding
Ephesians 5:18-20  Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

PRAY Romans 8:26-27

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God.

but the Spirit himself
Romans 8:15-16  The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry "Abba, Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.

intercedes for us
Ephesians 6:18  And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people.

And he who searches our hearts
Revelation 2:23  "I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds."

because the Spirit intercedes for God's people
Romans 8:34  Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died--more that that, who was raised to life--is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

PRAY John 17:20-21

"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me."

that all of them may be one
Jeremiah 32:38-39  "They will be my people, and I will be their God. I will give them singleness of heart and action so that they will always fear me and that all will then go well for them and their children after them."

just as you are in me and I am in you
John 17:11  "I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one."
John 10:37-38  "Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father. But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father."

May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me
John 17:3  "Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent."
John 17:8  "For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you and they believed that you sent me."
John 17:18  "As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world."
John 17:22-23  "I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one--I in them and you in me--so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will  know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me."
John 17:25  "Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me."
John 3:17  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

PRAY Luke 22:39-44 Part 3 of 3

Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him. On reaching the place, he said to them, "Pray that you will not fall into temptation." He withdrew about a stone's throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done." An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.

Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me
Matthew 20:22  "You don't know what you are asking," Jesus said to them. "Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?"  "We can," they answered.

yet not my will, but yours be done
Matthew 26:39  Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."

An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him
Matthew 4:11  Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
Mark 1:12-13  At once the Spirit sent him out into the wilderness, and he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.

He withdrew about a stone's throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed
Luke 18:9-14  To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other people--robbers, evildoers, adulterers--or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.' But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.' Jesus went out as usual
Luke 21:37-38  Each day Jesus was teaching at the temple, and each evening he went out to spend the night on the hill called the Mount of Olives, and all the people came early in the morning to hear him at the temple.

to the Mount of Olives
Matthew 21:1-3  As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, "Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. PRAY Luke 18:1

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.

Isaiah 40:30-31  Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Luke 11:5-8  Then Jesus said to them, "Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, 'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him.' And suppose the one inside answers, 'Don't bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can't get up and give you anything.' I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need."
Acts 1:14  They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus and with his brothers.
Romans 1:9-10  God, whom I serve in my spirit in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you in my prayers at all times; and I pray that now at last by God's will the way may be opened for me to come to you.
Colossians 4:2  Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
1 Thessalonians 5:17-18  ... pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

PRAY Luke 11:1

One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples."

One day Jesus was praying in a certain place
Luke 3:21-22  When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. As he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased."

one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray"
John 13:12-15  When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. "Do you understand what I have done for you?" he asked them. "You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord', and rightfully so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you."

PRAY Luke 6:27-28

"But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you."

Luke 6:35-36  "But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful."
Matthew 5:44-45  "But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous."
Romans 12:20-21  On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." (Proverbs 25:21-22) Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

PRAY Matthew 26:36-38

Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, "Sit here while I go over there and pray." He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then he said to them, "My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me."

He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee
Matthew 4:21-22  Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow
John 12:27  "Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour."

Stay here and keep watch with me
Matthew 26:40-41  Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. "Couldn't you men keep watch with me for one hour?" he asked Peter. "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."

Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.

Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them
Mark 5:23  He pleaded earnestly with him, "My little girl is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live."

PRAY Matthew 6:9-13 Part 2 of 2

"This, then, is how you should pray: 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.' "

Give us today our daily bread
Proverbs 30:8  "Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread."

And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors
See Matthew 18:21-35  The parable of the wicked servant who was forgiven much but refused to forgive little.

And lead us not into temptation
James 1:13-15  When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full -grown, gives birth to death.

Our Father in heaven
Jeremiah 3:19-20  "I myself said, 'How gladly would I treat you like my children and give you a pleasant land, the most beautiful inheritance of any nation.' I thought you would call me 'Father' and not turn away from following me. But like a woman unfaithful to her husband, so you, Israel, have been unfaithful to me." declares the LORD.
Malachi 2:10  Do we not all have one Father? Did not one God create us? Why do we profane the covenant of our ancestors by being unfaithful to one another?
1 Peter 1:17  Since you call on a Father who judges each person's work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear.

PRAY Matthew 6:5-8

"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him."

PRAY Jeremiah 42:3

"Pray that the LORD your God will tell us where we should go and what we should do."

Jeremiah 42:19-22  "Remnant of Judah, the LORD has told you, 'Do not go to Egypt.' Be sure of this: I warn you today that you made a fatal mistake when you sent me to the LORD your God and said, 'Pray to the LORD our God for us; tell us everything he says and we will do it.' I have told you today, but you still have not obeyed the LORD your God in all he sent me to tell you. So now, be sure of this: You will die by the sword, famine and plague in the place where you want to go to settle."
Psalm 86:11  Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.
Proverbs 3:5-6  Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight.
Jeremiah 15:11  The LORD said, "Surely I will deliver you for a good purpose; surely I will make your enemies plead with you in times of disaster and times of distress."

PRAY Jeremiah 29:11-13 Part 2 of 2

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."

You will seek me

2 Chronicles 6:36-39  "When they sin against you--for there is no one who does not sin--and you become angry with them and give them over to the enemy, who takes them captive to a land far away or near; and if they have a change of heart in the land where they are held captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captivity and say, 'We have sinned, we have done wrong and acted wickedly'; and if they turn back to you with all their heart and soul in the land of their captivity where they were taken, and pray toward the land you gave their ancestors, toward the city you have chosen and toward the temple I have built for your Name; then from heaven, your dwelling place, hear their prayer and their pleas, and uphold their cause. And forgive your people, who have sinned against you."

PRAY Jeremiah 29:11-13 Part 1 of 2

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."

For I know the plans I have for you
Psalm 40:5  Many, LORD my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.

plans to prosper you and not to harm you
Isaiah 55:12  "You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands."

plans to give you hope and a future
Job 8:7  "Your beginnings will seem humble, so prosperous will your future be."
Zechariah 8:14-15  This is what the LORD Almighty says: "Just as I had determined to bring disaster on you and showed no pity when your ancestors angered me," says the LORD Almighty, "so now I have determined to do good again to Jerusalem and Judah. Do not be afraid."

Then you will call on me
Hosea 2:23  "I will plant her for myself in the land; I will show my love to the one I called 'Not my loved one.' (Lo-Ruhamah, Hosea 1:6) I will say to those called 'Not my people,' (Lo-Ammi, Hosea 1:9) 'You are my people'; and they will say, 'You are my God.' "
Zephaniah 3:12  "But I will leave within you the meek and humble. The remnant of Israel will trust in the name of the LORD."
Zechariah 13:9  "This third I will put into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, 'They are my people,' and they will say, 'The LORD is our God.' "

and come and pray to me
1 Kings 8:30  "Hear the supplication of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place, and when you hear, forgive."

and I will listen to you
Psalm 145:19  He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them.
Isaiah 55:6  Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.

PRAY Jeremiah 29:7-9 Part 3 of 3

"Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper." Yes, this is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: "Do not let the prophets and diviners among you deceive you. Do not listen to the dreams you encourage them to have. They are prophesying lies to you in my name. I have not sent them," declares the LORD.

They are prophesying lies to you in my name
Jeremiah 27:15  " 'I have not sent them,' declares the LORD. 'They are prophesying lies in my name. Therefore I will banish you and you will perish, both you and the prophets who prophesy to you.' "
Lamentations 2:14  The visions of your prophets were false and worthless; they did not expose your sin to ward off your captivity. The prophecies they gave you were false and misleading.
Ezekiel 13:6  " 'Their visions are false and their divinations a lie. Even though the LORD has not sent them, they say, "The LORD declares." and expect him to fulfill their words. Have you not seen false visions and uttered lying divinations when you say, "The LORD declares," though I have not spoken?' "

"I have not sent them," declares the LORD
Jeremiah 23:21-22  "I did not send these prophets, yet they have run with their message; I did not speak to them, yet they have prophesied. But if they had stood in my council, they would have proclaimed my words to my people and would have turned them from their evil ways and from their evil deeds."

PRAY Jeremiah 29:7-9 Part 2 of 3

"Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper." Yes, this is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: "Do not let the prophets and diviners among you deceive you. Do not listen to the dreams you encourage them to have. They are prophesying lies to you in my name. I have not sent them," declares the LORD.

Do not listen to the dreams you encourage them to have
Deuteronomy 13:1-3  If a prophet, or one who foretells by dreams, appears among you and announces to you a sign or wonder, and if the sign or wonder spoken of takes place, and the prophet says, "Let us follow other gods" (gods you have not known) "and let us worship them," you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The LORD your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul."
Jeremiah 23:25-32  "I have heard what the prophets say  who prophesy lies in my name. They say, 'I had a dream! I had a dream!' How long will this continue in the hearts of these lying prophets, who prophesy the delusions of their own minds? They think the dreams they tell one another will make my people forget my name, just as their ancestors forgot my name through Baal worship. Let the prophet who has a dream recount the dream, but let the one who has my word speak it faithfully. For what has straw to do with grain?" declares the LORD. "Is not my word like fire," declares the LORD, "and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces? Therefore," declares the LORD, "I am against the prophets who steal from one another words supposedly from me. Yes," declares the LORD, "I am against the prophets who wag their own tongues and yet declare 'The LORD declares.' Indeed, I am against those who prophesy false dreams," declares the LORD. "They tell them and lead my people astray with their reckless lies, yet I did not send or appoint them. They do not benefit these people in the least," declares the LORD.

Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile
Esther 3:8  Then Haman said to King Xerxes, "There is a certain people dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom who keep themselves separate. Their customs are different from those of all other people, and they do not obey the king's laws; it is not in the king's best interest to tolerate them."

Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper
1 Timothy 2:1-2  I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people--for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

Do not let the prophets
1 John 4:1  Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

You are my hiding place
Judges 9:35  Now Gaal, son of Ebed had gone out and was standing at the entrance of the city gate just as Abimelek and his troops came out from their hiding place.

Isaiah 28:15-17  You boast, "We have entered into a covenant with death, with the realm of the dead we have made an agreement. When an overwhelming scourge sweeps by, it cannot touch us, for we have made a lie our refuge and falsehood our hiding place." So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never  be stricken with panic. I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the plumb line; hail will sweep away your refuge, the lie, and water will overflow your hiding place."
Jeremiah 49:10-11  "But I will strip Esau bare; I will uncover his hiding places, so that he cannot conceal himself. His armed men are destroyed, also his allies and neighbors, so there is no one to say, 'Leave your fatherless children; I will keep them alive. Your widows too can depend on me.' "

Listen to my words, LORD

PRAY Job 42:7-8 Part 2 of 2

After the LORD had said these things to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, "I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has. So now take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and sacrifice a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. You have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has."

and sacrifice a burnt offering for yourselves
Genesis 8:20-21  Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it. The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: "Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures as I have done."

My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer
James 5:15-16  And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the LORD will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
1 John 5:16-17  If you see any brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray and God will give them life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that you should pray about that. All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death.

and not deal with you according to your folly
Genesis 20:6-7  Then God said to him (Abimelek) in the dream, "Yes, I know you did this with a clear conscience, and so I have kept you from sinning against me. That is why I did not let you touch her. Now return the man's wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you will live. But if you do not return her, you may be sure that you and all who belong to you will die."
Job 22:30  "He will deliver even one who is not innocent, who will be delivered through the cleanness of your hands."

PRAY Job 42:7-8 Part 1 of 2

After the LORD had said these things to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, "I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has. So now take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and sacrifice a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. You have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has."

After the LORD has said these things to Job
Joshua 1:7  "Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go."

I am angry with you and your two friends
Job 32:1-3  So these three men (Eliphaz, Bildad, Zophar) stopped answering Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes. But Elihu son of Barakel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, became very angry with Job for justifying himself rather than God. He was also angry with the three friends, because they had found no way to refute Job, and yet had condemned him.

because you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has
Job 9:15  "Though I were innocent, I could not answer him; I could only plead with my Judge for mercy."

So now take seven bulls and seven rams
Numbers 23:1  Balaam said, "Build me seven altars here, and prepare seven bulls and seven rams for me."
Numbers 23:29  Balaam said, "Build me seven altars here, and prepare seven bulls and seven rams for me."
Ezekiel 45:23  " 'Every day during the seven days of the festival he is to provide seven bulls and seven rams without defect as a burnt offering to the LORD, and a male goat for a sin offering.' "

and go to my servant Job
Job 1:8  Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil."

PRAY Ezra 6:8-10

(A decree issued by Cyrus to rebuild the temple at Jerusalem)
Moreover, I hereby decree what you are to do for these elders of the Jews in the construction of this house of God: Their expenses are to be paid out of the royal treasury, from the revenues of Trans-Euphrates, so that the work will not stop. Whatever is needed--young bulls, rams, male lambs for burnt offerings to the God of heaven, and wheat, salt, wine and olive oil, as requested by the priests in Jerusalem--must be given them daily without fail, so that they may offer sacrifices pleasing to the God of heaven and pray for the well-being of the king and his sons.

Their expenses are to be paid out of the royal treasury, from the revenues of Trans-Euphrates
Ezra 6:3-4  In the first year of King Cyrus, the king issued a decree concerning the temple of God in Jerusalem: Let the temple be rebuilt as a place to present sacrifices, and let its foundations be laid. It is to be sixty cubits high and sixty cubits wide, with three courses of large stones and one of timbers. The costs are to be paid by the royal treasury.

Whatever is needed--young bulls, rams, male lambs for burnt offerings to the God of heaven
Leviticus 1:3  " 'If the offering is a burnt offering from the herd, you are to offer a male without defect. You must present it at the entrance to the tent of meeting so that it will be acceptable to the LORD.' "
Leviticus 1:10  " 'If the offering is a burnt offering from the flock, from either the sheep or the goats, you are to offer a male without defect.' "

so that they may offer sacrifices pleasing to the God of heaven and pray for the well-being of the king and his sons
Ezra 7:23  Whatever the God of heaven has prescribed, let it be done with diligence for the temple of the God in heaven. Why should his wrath fall on the realm of the king and his sons?
1 Timothy 2:1-2  I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people--for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
