SALVATION 1 Thessalonians 5:8-9

But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

But since we belong to the day 
1 Thessalonians 5:5  You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.

let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate 
Ephesians 6:14-15  Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

and the hope of salvation  
Romans 8:24  For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have?

as a helmet 
Isaiah 59:17  He put on righteousness as his breastplate, and the helmet of salvation on his head; he put on garments of vengeance and wrapped himself in zeal as in a cloak.
Ephesians 6:17  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath 
1 Thessalonians 1:8-10  The Lord's message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia--your faith in God has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about it, for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead--Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.

but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ 
2 Thessalonians 2:13-14  But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the spirit and through belief in the truth. He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
