Title: when the Philistines had seized him at Gath
1 Samuel 21:10-15 That day David fled from Saul and went to Achish king of Gath. But the servants of Achish said to him, "Isn't this David, the king of the land? Isn't he one they sing about in their dances? 'Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands'?" David took these words to heart and was very much afraid of Achish king of Gath. So he pretended to be insane in their presence; and while he was in their hands he acted like a madman, making marks on the doors of the gate and letting saliva run down his beard. Achish said to his servants, "Look at the man! He is insane! Why bring him to me? Am I so short of madmen that you have to bring this fellow here to carry on like this in front of me? Must this man come into my house?"

Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.
Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you
Psalm 18:35 You make your saving help my shield, and your right hand sustains me; your help has made me great.

Psalm 55:20-21
My companion attacks his friends; he violates his covenant. His talk is smooth as butter, yet war is in his heart; his words are more soothing than oil, yet they are drawn swords.
My companion attacks his friends
Psalm 7:4 ... if I have repaid my ally with evil or without cause have robbed my foe--...
he violates his covenant
Psalm 41:9 Even my close friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my bread, has turned against me.
His talk is smooth as butter
Psalm 12:2 Everyone lies to their neighbor; they flatter with their lips but harbor deception in their hearts.
his words are more soothing than oil
Proverbs 5:3 For the lips of an adulterous woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil; ...
Proverbs 6:23-24 For this command is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and correction and instruction are the way to life, keeping you from your neighbor's wife, from the smooth talk of a wayward woman.
yet they are drawn swords
Psalm 57:4 I am in the midst of lions; I am forced to dwell among ravenous beasts--men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords.
Psalm 59:7 See what they spew from their mouths--the words from their lips are sharp as swords, and they think, "Who can hear us?"
Psalm 64:3 They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim cruel words like deadly arrows.
Proverbs 12:18 The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
Revelation 1:6 In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.

Psalm 55:19
God, who is enthroned from of old, who does not change--he will hear them and humble them, because they have no fear of God.
God, who is enthroned from of old
Exodus 15:18 "The LORD reigns for ever and ever."
Deuteronomy 33:27 "The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemies before you, saying, 'Destroy them!' "
Psalm 29:10 The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD is enthroned as King forever.
he will hear them and humble them
Psalm 78:59 When God heard them, he was furious; he rejected Israel completely.
Leviticus 26:27-28 " 'If in spite of this you still do not listen to me but continue to be hostile toward me, then in my anger I will be hostile toward you, and I myself will punish you for your sins seven times over.' "
Numbers 32:14-15 "And here you are, a brood of sinners, standing in the place of your fathers and making the LORD even more angry with Israel. If you turn away from following him, he will again leave all this people in the wilderness, and you will be the cause of their destruction."
Deuteronomy 32:19-21 The LORD saw this and rejected them because he was angered by his sons and daughters. "I will hide my face from them," he said, "and see what their end will be; for they are a perverse generation, children who are unfaithful. They made me jealous by what is no god and angered me with their worthless idols. I will make them envious by those who are not a people; I will make them angry by a nation that has no understanding."
because they have no fear of God
Psalm 36:1 I have a message from God in my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before their eyes.
Psalm 10:11 He says to himself, "God will never notice; he covers his face and never sees."
Psalm 14:1 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.

Psalm 55:16-18
As for me, I call to God, and the LORD saves me. Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice. He rescues me unharmed from the battle waged against me, even though many oppose me.
Evening
Psalm 141:2 May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.
Acts 3:1 One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer--at three in the afternoon (the time of the evening sacrifice).
Acts 10:3 One day at about three in the afternoon he (Cornelius) had a vision. He distinctly saw an angel of God, who came to him and said, "Cornelius!"
Acts 10:30-32 Cornelius answered: "Three days ago I was in my house praying at this hour, at three in the afternoon. Suddenly a man in shining clothes stood before me and said, 'Cornelius, God has heard your prayer and remembered your gifts to the poor. Send to Joppa for Simon who is called Peter. He is a guest in the home of Simon the tanner, who lives by the sea.' "
morning
Psalm 5:3 In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.
Psalm 88:13 But I cry to you for help, LORD; in the morning my prayer comes before you.
Psalm 92:1-3 It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High, proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp.
and noon
Acts 10:9 About noon the following day as they (Cornelius's men) were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray.

Psalm 55:15
Let death take my enemies by surprise; let them go down alive to the realm of the dead, for evil finds lodging among them.
Let death take my enemies by surprise
Psalm 64:7 But God will shoot them with his arrows; they will suddenly be struck down.
Proverbs 6:15 Therefore disaster will overtake him [the troublemaker and villain] in an instant; he will suddenly be destroyed--without remedy.
Isaiah 29:5-6 But your many enemies will become like fine dust, the ruthless hordes like blown chaff. Suddenly in an instant, the LORD Almighty will come with thunder and earthquake and great noise, with windstorm and tempest and flames of devouring fire.
Isaiah 47:9-11 "Both of these will overtake you [Babylon] in a moment, on a single day: loss of children and widowhood. They will come upon you in full measure, in spite of your many sorceries and all your potent spells. You have trusted in your wickedness and have said, 'No one sees me.' Your wisdom and knowledge mislead you when you say to yourself, 'I am, and there is none besides me.' Disaster will come upon you, and you will not know how to conjure it away. A calamity will fall upon you that you cannot ward off with a ransom; a catastrophe you cannot foresee will suddenly come upon you."
1 Thessalonians 5:3 While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
let them go down alive to the realm of the dead
Psalm 49:14 They [those who trust in themselves] are like sheep and are destined to die; death will be their shepherd (but the upright will prevail over them in the morning). Their forms will decay in the grave, far from their princely mansions.
