1 Timothy 6:9-10

Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

Those who want to get rich
Proverbs 15:27  The greedy bring ruin to their households, but the one who hates bribes will live.
Proverbs 28:20  A faithful person will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished.

fall into temptation and a trap
1 Timothy 3:7  He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap.

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil
1 Timothy 3:2-3  Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.
Luke 16:13-14  "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money." The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and were sneering at Jesus.

Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith
1 Timothy 6:20-21  Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, which some have professed and in so doing have departed from the faith. Grace be with you all.
James 5:19-20  My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

and pierced themselves with many griefs
Joshua 7:20-21  Achan replied, "It is true! I have sinned against the LORD, the God of Israel. This is what I have done: When I saw in the plunder a beautiful robe from Babylonia, two hundred shekels of silver and a bar of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. They are hidden in the ground inside my tent, with the silver underneath." (see verses 22-26 to see the many griefs Achan suffered for disobeying God's command)
