We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

1 Peter 1:10-11  Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and the circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow.

and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light   
Psalm 119:105  Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
Psalm 119:130  The unfolding of your word gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.
Proverbs 20:27  The human spirit is the lamp of the LORD that sheds light on one's inmost being.

shining in a dark place, until the day dawns 
Luke 1:76-79  "And you my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him, to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace."

and the morning star 
Revelation 22:16  "I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star."

rises in your hearts 
2 Corinthians 4:6  For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," (Genesis 1:3) made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ.
