You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ
Romans 3:28 For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.
Romans 3:20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God's sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.
Acts 13:39 "Through him (Jesus) everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses."
Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast.
you have fallen away from grace
Hebrews 12:15 See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.
2 Peter 3:17-18 Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope
Romans 8:23-24 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have?
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value
1 Corinthians 7:19 Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God's commands is what counts.
The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love
1 Thessalonians 1:3 We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
James 2:22 You see that his (Abraham's) faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by he did.

Galatians 5:2-3
Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law.
I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all
Galatians 5:6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
Galatians 5:11-12 Brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished. As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!
Acts 15:1 Certain people came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the believers: "Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved."
Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law
Romans 2:25 Circumcision has value if you observe the law, but if you break the law, you have become as though you had not been circumcised.
Galatians 3:10 For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law." (Deuteronomy 27:26)
James 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

Galatians 5:1
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free
Galatians 5:13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge in the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
John 8:31-32 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
Galatians 2:4 This matter arose because some false believers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves.
Romans 7:4 So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.
Stand firm, then
1 Corinthians 16:13 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.
do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery
Matthew 23:1-4 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: "The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them."
Luke 11:46 Jesus replied, "And you experts in the law, woe to you, because you load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not lift one finger to help them."
Matthew 11:28-30 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Galatians 4:28-31
Now you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise. At that time the son born according to the flesh persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now. But what does Scripture say: "Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman's son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman's son." (Genesis 21:10) Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman.
Now you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise
Galatians 4:23 His son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a divine promise.
Galatians 3:16 The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say "and to seeds," meaning many people, but "and to your seed," meaning one person, who is Christ.
At that time the son born according to the flesh persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit
Genesis 21:9 But Sarah saw that the son whom Hagar the Egyptian had borne to Abraham was mocking, ...
"Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman's son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman's son."
Genesis 21:10 ... and she said to Abraham, "Get rid of that slave woman and her son, for that woman's son will never share in the inheritance with my son Isaac."
we are not children of the slave woman
Romans 7:4 So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.

Galatians 4:24-27
These things are being taken figuratively: The women represent two covenants. One covenant is from Mount Sinai and bears children who are to be slaves: This is Hagar. Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children. But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother. For it is written: "Be glad, barren woman, you who never bore a child; shout for joy and cry aloud, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband." ( Isaiah 54:1)
But the Jerusalem that is above is free
Hebrews 12:22-24 But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.
Revelation 3:12 "The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name."
Revelation 21:2 I saw the Holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.
Revelation 21:10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.
because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband
Isaiah 54:1 "Sing, barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband," says the LORD.

Galatians 4:21-23 Part 2 of 2
Tell me, you
who want to be under the law, are you not aware of what the law says?
For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and
the other by the free woman. His son by the slave woman was born
according to the flesh, but his son by the free woman was born as the
result of a divine promise.
For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman
Genesis 16:15 So Hagar bore Abram a son, and Abram gave the name Ishmael to the son she had borne.
and the other by the free woman
Genesis 21:2 Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him.
His son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh
Galatians 4:28-29 Now you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise. At that time the son born according to the flesh persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now.
Romans 9:6-8 It is not as though God's word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham's children. On the contrary, "It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned." (Genesis 21:12) In other words, it is not the children by physical descent who are God's children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham's offspring.
but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a divine promise
Genesis 17:19 Then God said, "Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him."
Genesis 18:14 "Is anything too hard for the LORD? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son."
Genesis 21:1-2 Now the LORD was gracious to Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did for Sarah what he had promised. Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him.
Hebrews 11:11 And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise.

Galatians 4:21-23 Part 1 of 2

His son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a divine promise.
Tell me, you who want to be under the law
Romans 2:12 All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law.
Romans 3:19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.
Romans 6:14 For sin shall no longer by your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
Romans 7:4 So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.
1 Corinthians 9:20-21 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win those not having the law.
Galatians 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

Galatians 4:17-20
Those people are zealous to win you over, but for no good. What they want is to alienate you from us, so that you may have zeal for them. It is fine to be zealous, provided the purpose is good, and to be so always, not just when I am with you. My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you, how I wish I could be with you now and change my tone, because I am perplexed about you!
What they want is to alienate you from us, so that you may have zeal for them
Galatians 2:4 This matter arose because some false believers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves.
Galatians 2:12 For before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group.
It is fine to be zealous, provided the purpose is good, and to be so always, not just when I am with you
Galatians 4:13-14 As you know, it was because of an illness that I first preached the gospel to you, and even though my illness was a trial to you, you did not treat me with contempt or scorn. Instead you welcomed me as if I were an angel of God, as if I were Christ Jesus himself.
My dear children
1 Thessalonians 2:11-12 For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.
for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you
Romans 8:29 For those he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
Ephesians 4:11-13 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Galatians 4:12-16
I plead with you, brothers and sisters, become like me, for I became like you. You did me no wrong. As you know, it was because of an illness that I first preached the gospel to you, and even though my illness was a trial to you, you did not treat me with contempt or scorn. Instead, you welcomed me as if I were an angel of God, as if I were Christ Jesus himself. Where, then, is your blessing of me now? I can testify that, if you could have done so, you would have torn out your eyes and given them to me. Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth?
I plead with you, brothers and sisters
Romans 7:1 Do you not know, brothers and sisters--for I am speaking to those who know the law--that the law has authority over someone only as long as that person lives?
Galatians 6:18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers and sisters. Amen.
it was because of an illness that I first preached the gospel to you
1 Corinthians 2:3 I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling.
Instead, you welcomed me as if I were an angel of God, as if I were Christ Jesus himself
Matthew 10:40 "Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me."
Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth?

Galatians 4:8-11 Part 3 of 3
Formerly,
when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are
not gods. But now that you know God--or rather are known by God--how is
it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable forces? Do you
wish to be enslaved by them all over again? You are observing special
days and months and seasons and years! I fear for you, that somehow I
have wasted my efforts on you.
You are observing special days and months and seasons and years!
Romans 14:5 One person considers one day more sacred than another, another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind.
Colossians 2:16-17 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.
I fear for you, that somehow I have wasted my efforts on you
1 Thessalonians 3:5 For this reason, when I could stand it no longer, I sent to find out about your faith. I was afraid that in some way the tempter had tempted you and that our labors might have been in vain.

to those who by nature are not gods
1 Corinthians 4:4-6 So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that "An idol is nothing at all in the world" and that "There is no God but one." For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many "gods" and many "lords"), yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.
But now that you know God--or rather are known by God
1 Corinthians 8:3 But whoever loves God is known by God.
Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."
Romans 8:29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again?
Colossians 2:20-23 Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belong to the world, do you submit to its rules: "Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!" These rules which have to do with things that are all destined to perish with use, are based on mere human commands and teachings. Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.

Formerly, when you did not know God
Romans 1:28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.
1 Corinthians 1:21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.
1 Corinthians 15:33-34 Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character." [from the Greek poet Menander] Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God--I say this to your shame.
2 Thessalonians 1:8 He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
You were slaves
Galatians 4:3 So also, when we were underage, we were in slavery under the elemental forces of the world.
to those who by nature are not gods
2 Chronicles 13:9 "But didn't you drive out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and make priests of your own as the peoples of other lands do? Whoever comes to consecrate himself with a young bull and seven rams may become a priest of what are not gods."
Isaiah 37:19 "They [the Assyrian kings] have thrown their [the conquered peoples] gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods but only wood and stone, fashioned by human hands."
Jeremiah 2:11 "Has any nation ever changed its gods? (Yet they are not gods at all.) But my people have exchanged their glorious God for worthless idols."
Jeremiah 5:7 "Why should I forgive you? Your children have forsaken me and sworn by gods that are not gods. I supplied all their needs, yet they committed adultery and thronged to the houses of prostitutes."
Jeremiah 16:20 "Do people make their own gods? Yes, but they are not gods!"

Galatians 4:6-7
Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba, Father." So you are no longer a slave, but God's child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.
God sent the Spirit of his Son
Acts 16:7 When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to.
Romans 8:9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.
1 Peter 1:10-12 Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and the circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.
into our hearts
Romans 5:5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
the Spirit who calls out "Abba, Father"
Romans 8:15-16 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.
and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir
Romans 8:17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

Galatians 4:4-5 Part 2 of 2
But
when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman,
born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive
adoption to sonship.
born under the law
Luke 2:27-32 Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying: "Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel."
to redeem those under the law
Romans 3:24 ... and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
that we might receive adoption
John 1:12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God--...
to sonship
Romans 8:14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

but when the set time had fully come
Mark 1:15 "The time has come," he (Jesus) said. "The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news."
Romans 5:6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
Ephesians 1:7-10 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment--to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.
God sent his Son
John 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
born of a woman
John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Galatians 4:1-3
What I am saying is that as long as an heir is underage, he is no different from a slave, although he owns the whole estate. The heir is subject to guardians and trustees until the time set by his father. So also, when we were underage, we were in slavery under the elemental spiritual forces of the world.
when we were underage, we were in slavery
Galatians 4:8-9 Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods. But now that you know God--or rather are known by God--how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable forces? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again?
Galatians 4:24-25 These things are being taken figuratively: The women represent two covenants. One covenant is from Mount Sinai and bears children who are to be slaves: This is Hagar. Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children.
Galatians 2:4 This matter arose because some false believers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves.
under the elemental spiritual forces of the world
Colossians 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.
Colossians 2:20-21 Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world do you submit to its rules: "Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!"?

Galatians 3:26-29 Part 3 of 3
So in Christ
Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were
baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is
neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and
female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ,
then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
and heirs
Romans 8:17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
according to the promise
Luke 1:54-55 "He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he promised our ancestors."
Romans 4:16 Therefore the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring--not only to those who are of the law but also to those who have the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.

John 10:16 "I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd."
John 17:11 "I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one."
Ephesians 2:14-15 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.
If you belong to Christ
1 Corinthians 3:21-23 So then, no more boasting about human leaders! All things are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future--all are yours, and you are of Christ, and Christ is of God.
then you are Abraham's seed
Galatians 3:16 The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say "and to seeds," meaning many people, but "and to your seed," meaning one person, who is Christ.
Luke 3:8 "Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham."

Galatians 3:26-29 Part 1 of 3
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith
Romans 8:14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.
for all of you who were baptized into Christ
Matthew 28:19 "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, ..."
have clothed yourselves with Christ
Romans 13:14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.
There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free
1 Corinthians 12:13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body--whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free--and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
Colossians 3:11 Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.
nor is there male and female
Genesis 1:27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Genesis 5:2 He created them male and female and blessed them. And he named them "Mankind" when they were created.
Joel 2:24 "Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days."

Galatians 3:23-25
Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.
Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law
Romans 11:32 For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.
locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed
Galatians 3:25 Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.
So the law was our guardian until Christ came
Galatians 3:19 Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was given through angels and entrusted to a mediator.
Romans 10:4 Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
Romans 4:14-15 For if those who depend on the law are heirs, faith means nothing and the promise is worthless, because the law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression.
that we might be justified by faith
Galatians 2:16 (We Jews) know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.
Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian
Romans 7:4 So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.

Galatians 3:21-22
Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law. But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.
Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not!
Galatians 2:17 "But if, in seeking to be justified in Christ, we Jews find ourselves also among the sinners, doesn't that mean that Christ promotes sin? Absolutely not!
Romans 7:12 So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good.
For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law
Galatians 2:21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!
But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin
Romans 3:9-12 What shall we conclude then? Do we have any advantage? Not at all! For we have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin. As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one." (Psalm 14:1-3)
Romans 3:18-20 "There is no fear of God before their eyes." (Psalm 36:1) Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God's sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

A mediator, however, implies more than one party; but God is one
1 Timothy 2:5-6 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.
Hebrews 8:6 But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises.
Hebrews 9:15 For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance--now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.
Hebrews 12:22-25 But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of righteousness made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel. See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven?

It was added because of transgressions
Romans 5:19-21 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Deuteronomy 33:2 He [Moses] said: "The LORD came from Sinai and dawned over them from Seir; he shown forth from Mount Paran. He came with myriads of holy ones from the south, from his mountain slopes."
Acts 7:51-53 "You stiff-necked people! Your hearts and ears are still uncircumcised. You are just like your ancestors: You always resist the Holy Spirit! Was there ever a prophet your ancestors did not persecute? They even killed those who predicted the coming of the Righteous One. And now you have betrayed and murdered him--you who have received the law that was given through angels but have not obeyed it."

Exodus 20:18-19 When the people saw the thunder and lightning and heard the trumpet and saw the mountain in smoke, they trembled with fear. They stayed at a distance and said to Moses, "Speak to us yourself and we will listen. But do not have God speak to us or we will die."

Galatians 3:15-18 Part 3 of 3
Brothers and
sisters, let me take an example from everyday life. Just as no one can
set aside or add to a human covenant that has been duly established, so
it is in this case. The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed.
Scripture does not say "and to seeds," meaning many people, but "and to
your seed," meaning one person, who is Christ. What I mean is this: The
law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant
previously established by God and thus do away with the promise. For if
the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on the
promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.
What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise
Genesis 15:13-14 Then the LORD said to him, "Know for certain that for four hundred years your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own and that they will be enslaved and mistreated there. But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will come out with great possessions."
Exodus 12:40 Now the length of time the Israelite people lived in Egypt was 430 years.
Acts 7:6 "God spoke to him in this way: 'For four hundred years your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own, and they will be enslaved and mistreated.' "
For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on the promise
Romans 4:14-15 For if those who depend on the law are heirs, faith means nothing and the promise is worthless, because the law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression.

Galatians 3:15-18 Part 2 of 3
Brothers and

The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed
Romans 9:4-5 ...the people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption to sonship; theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises. Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.
Romans 9:8 In other words, it is not the children by physical descent who are God's children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham's offspring.
Galatians 3:29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Galatians 4:28 Now you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise.
Scripture does not say "and to seeds," meaning many people, but "and to your seed," meaning one person, who is Christ.
Genesis 12:7 The LORD appeared to Abram and said, "To your offspring I will give this land." So he built an altar there to the LORD, who had appeared to him.
Genesis 17:7-10 "I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you. The whole land of Canaan, where you now reside as a foreigner, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you; and I will be their God." Then God said to Abraham, "As for you, you must keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you for the generations to come. This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised."
Genesis 24:7 "The LORD, the God of heaven, who brought me out of my father's household and my native land and who spoke to me and promised me on oath, saying, 'To your offspring I will give this land'--he will send his angel before you so that you can get a wife for my son from there."

Brothers and sisters
Romans 7:1 Do you not know, brothers and sisters--for I am speaking to those who know the law--that the law has authority over someone only as long as that person lives?
The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed
Genesis 17:19 Then God said, "Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him."
Psalm 132:11 The LORD swore an oath to David, a sure oath he will not revoke: "One of your own descendants I will place on your throne."
Micah 7:20 You will be faithful to Jacob, and show love to Abraham, as you pledged on oath to our ancestors in days long ago.
Luke 1:54-55 "He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he promised our ancestors."
Romans 4:13 It was not through the law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.
Romans 4:16 Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring--not only to those who are of the law but also to those who have the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.

Galatians 3:12-14
The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, "The person who does these things will live by them." Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole." He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
"The person who does these things will live by them."
Leviticus 18:5 " 'Keep my decrees and laws, for the person who obeys them will live by them. I am the LORD.' "
Romans 10:5 Moses writes this about the righteousness that is by the law: "The person who does these things will live by them."
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us
Galatians 4:4-5 But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.
for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole."
Deuteronomy 21:23 ... you must not leave the body hanging on the pole overnight. Be sure to bury it that same day, because anyone who is hung on a pole is under God's curse. You must not desecrate the land the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.
Acts 5:30 "The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead--whom you killed by hanging him on a cross."
He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus
Romans 4:9 Is this blessedness only for the circumcised, or also for the uncircumcised? We have been saying that Abraham's faith was credited to him as righteousness.
Romans 4:16 Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring--not only to those who are of the law but also to those who have the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.
so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit
Galatians 3:2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard?
Joel 2:28 "And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions."
John 20:22 And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit."
Acts 2:33 "Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you see and hear."

Galatians 3:10-11
For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law." (Deuteronomy 27:26) Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because "the righteous will live by faith." (Habakkuk 2:4)
For all who rely on the works of the law
Galatians 2:15-16 We who are Jews by birth and not sinful Gentiles know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.
are under a curse
Galatians 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole." (Deuteronomy 21:23)
Romans 4:14-15 For if those who depend on the law are heirs, faith means nothing and the promise is worthless, because the law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression.
Romans 7:7-10 What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, "You shall not covet." (Exodus 20:17; Deuteronomy 5:2) But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, produced in me every kind of coveting. For apart from the law, sin was dead. Once I was alive apart from the law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died. I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death.
1 Corinthians 15:56 For the sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
"Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law"
Jeremiah 11:3 "Tell them that this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Cursed is the one who does not obey the terms of this covenant--...' "
Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God
Romans 3:28 For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.
because "the righteous will live by faith"
Hebrews 10:38 And, "But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back." (Habakkuk 2:4)
