GRACE Nehemiah 9:17-18 Part 3 of 4

"They refused to listen and failed to remember the miracles you performed among them. They became stiff-necked and in their rebellion appointed a leader in order to return to their slavery. But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love. Therefore you did not destroy them, even when they cast for themselves an image of a calf and said, 'This is your god who brought you up out of Egypt,' or when they committed awful blasphemies."  

But you are a forgiving God 
Psalm 130:4  But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you.
Daniel 9:9  "The LORD our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him; ..."

gracious and compassionate 
Deuteronomy 4:31  For the LORD your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your ancestors, which he confirmed to them by oath.

slow to anger 
Exodus 34-6  And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, ..."
Psalm 103:8  The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
Nahum 1:3  The LORD is slow to anger but great in power; the LORD will not leave the guilty unpunished. His way is in the whirlwind and storm, the clouds are the dust of his feet.

and abounding in love 
Exodus 22:26-27  "If you take your neighbor's cloak as a pledge, return it by sunset, because that cloak is the only covering your neighbor has. What else can they sleep in? When they cry out to me, I will hear, for I am compassionate."
Numbers 14:17-19  "Now may the LORD's strength be displayed, just as you have declared: 'The LORD is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.' In accordance with your great love, forgive the sin of these people, just as you have pardoned them from the time they left Egypt until now."
Psalm 86:15  But you, LORD, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
