Proverbs 1:7

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge
Exodus 20:20 Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning."
Job 23:15 "That is why I am terrified before him; when I think of all this, I fear him."
Psalm 112:1 Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in his commands.
Proverbs 9:10 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."
Proverbs 15:33 The fear of the LORD teaches a man wisdom, and humility comes before honor.
Isaiah 33:6 He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure.

but fools despise wisdom
Deuteronomy 4:6 Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say, "Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people."
Jeremiah 8:9 "'The wise will be put to shame; they will be dismayed and trapped. Since they have rejected the word of the LORD, what kind of wisdom do they have?'"

and discipline
Proverbs 9:7-9 "Whoever corrects a mocker invites insult; whoever rebukes a wicked man incurs abuse. Do not rebuke a mocker or he will hate you; rebuke a wise man and he will love you. Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning."
Proverbs 12:1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid.
Proverbs 13:18 He who ignores discipline comes to poverty and shame, but whoever heeds correction is honored.
Proverbs 15:32 He who ignores discipline despises himself, but whoever heeds correction gains understanding.
