"If
I had not come and spoken to them they would not be guilty of sins; but
now they have no excuse for their sin. Whoever hates me hates my Father
as well. If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they
would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have
hated both me and my Father. But this is to fulfill what is written in
their Law: 'They hated me without reason.' "
But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law
John 10:34 Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your Law, 'I have said you are "gods" '?"
John 8:17 "In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true."
John 12:34 The crowd spoke up, "We have heard from the Law that the Messiah will remain forever, so how can you say, 'The Son of Man must be lifted up'? Who is this 'Son of Man'?"
Romans 3:19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.
1 Corinthians 14:21 In the Law it is written: "With other tongues and through the lips of foreigners I will speak to this people, but even then they will not listen to me, says the Lord." (Isaiah 28:11-12)
They hated me without reason
Psalm 35:19 Do not let those gloat over me who are my enemies without cause; do not let those who hate me without reason maliciously wink the eye.
Psalm 69:4 Those who hate me without reason outnumber the hairs of my head; many are my enemies without cause, those who seek to destroy me. I am forced to restore what I did not steal.
Psalm 109:1-3 My God, whom I praise, do not remain silent, for people who are wicked and deceitful have opened their mouths against me; they have spoken against me with lying tongues. With words of hatred they surround me; they attack me without cause.
