GLORY Exodus 24:15-18 Part 2 of 3

When Moses went up on the mountain, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the LORD settled on Mount Sinai. For six days the cloud covered the mountain, and on the seventh day the LORD called to Moses from within the cloud. To the Israelites the glory of the LORD looked like a consuming fire on top of the mountain. Then Moses entered the cloud as he went on up the mountain. And he stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

settled on Mount Sinai
Exodus 19:10-11  And the LORD said to Moses, "Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow. Have them wash their clothes and be ready by the third day, because on that day the LORD will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people."

on the seventh day the LORD called Moses from within the cloud
Psalm 99:7  He spoke to them from the pillar of cloud; they kept his statutes and the decrees he gave them.

the glory of the LORD looked like a consuming fire on top of the mountain
Exodus 15:7  "In the greatness of your majesty you threw down those who opposed you. You unleashed your burning anger; it consumed them like stubble."
Exodus 19:18 Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the LORD descended on it in fire. The smoke billowed up from it like smoke from a furnace, and the whole mountain trembled violently.
Hebrews 12:18-21  You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom and storm; to a trumpet blast or to such a voice speaking words that those who heard it begged that no further word be spoken to them, because they could not bear what was commanded: "If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned to death." (Exodus 19:12-13) The sight was so terrifying that Moses said, "I am trembling with fear." (Deuteronomy 9:19)
Hebrews 12:28-29  Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our "God is a consuming fire." (Deuteronomy 4:24)
