"Pharaoh will think, 'The Israelites are wandering around the land in confusion, hemmed in by the desert.' And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue them. But I will gain glory for myself through Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD." So the Israelites did this.
And I will harden Pharaoh's heart
Exodus 4:21 The LORD said to Moses, "When you return to Egypt, see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders I have given you the power to do. But I will harden his heart so that he will not let the people go."
and he will pursue them
Exodus 14:8 The LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, so that he pursued the Israelites, who were marching out boldly.
Exodus 14:17 "I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen."
Exodus 14:23 The Egyptians pursued them, and all Pharaoh's horses and chariots and horsemen followed them into the sea.
Psalm 71:11 They say, "God has forsaken him; pursue him and seize him, for no one will rescue him."
But I will gain glory for myself through Pharaoh and all his army
Exodus 9:16 " 'But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.' "
Romans 9:17 For Scripture says to Pharaoh: "I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth."
Romans 9:22-24 What if God, although choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath--prepared for destruction? What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory--even us, whom he also called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles?
and the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD
Exodus 6:2 God also said to Moses, "I am the LORD."
Ezekiel 32:15 " 'When I make Egypt desolate and strip the land of everything in it, when I strike down all who live there, then they will know that I am the LORD.' "
