"Listen then to what the parable
of the sower means: When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and
does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was
sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path. The seed
falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once
receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a
short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they
quickly fall away. The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone
who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness
of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. But the seed falling on
good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This
is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty
times what was sown."
the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful
Luke 8:14 "The seed that fell among the thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life's worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature."
Mark 4:18-19 "Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful."
Matthew 19:23-24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God."
1 Timothy 6:9-10 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
1 Timothy 6:17 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
