Ephesians 2:11-13

Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called "uncircumcision" by those who call themselves "the circumcision" (which is done in the body by human hands)--remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

Therefore, remember that formerly
Ephesians 2:1-2  As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.

(which is done in the body by human hands)
Colossians 2:11-12  In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self ruled by the flesh was put off when you were circumcised by Christ, having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.

remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners
Isaiah 14:1  The LORD will have compassion on Jacob; once again he will choose Israel and will settle them in their own land. Foreigners will join them and unite with the descendants of Jacob.
Isaiah 65:1  "I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, 'Here am I, here am I.' "

to the covenants of the promise
Galatians 3:17  What I mean is this: The law introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise.

without hope and without God in the world
1 Thessalonians 4:3  Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near
Ephesians 2:17-18  He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

by the blood of Christ
Colossians 1:19-20  For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
