LOVE 1 John 4:19-21

We love because he first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.

We love because he first loved us
1 John 4:10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister
1 John 2:9 Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness.

is a liar
1 John 1:6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.
1 John 2:4 Whoever says "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person.

For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen
1 John 3:17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?

cannot love God, whom they have not seen
1 John 4:12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
John 1:18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.

and he has given us this command
1 John 2:7 Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard.

Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister
Matthew 5:43-44 "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."
